But found it not where it was before
So think it best not to keep score
Of the path others walk on anymore.
Seems to me that concern over their paths has a cost...
And that cost is that I be lost.
One Of Us Dreams
My heart keeps breakin
I was mistaken
Life is not what I thought it would be
Ev'ry breath brings misery
Memory of letting you sleep
Not a mem'ry I want to keep
Why would you not awaken?
But you did not and I have been forsaken.
Wake up and tell me I have been dreaming
Let me wake up and stop all of this screaming
The screams, like cacadas inside my head
Since I last lay beside you in our bed
I thought that night would last forever
And it has but I never
Thought it would last in a dream
More real than reality does sometime seem.
Maybe I'm the one who slept that day
And in that dream I still stay...
I've been dreaming, you never went away.
My Prison
I was living in a prison, the sentence self imposed
Said it was for my own protection as I the wall closed
For the world outside was a place where I never could fit in
The pain of trying to do so I would never do again
My prison was secure, with each block in just the right place
And I never figured anyone would even try to plead my case
Then you walked through the walls of that prison like they weren't even there
You would not let me stay behind those walls, would not let me not care
So I walked from those walls a free man
On your behalf I was granted a life's parole
Then you left and I don't understand
How I can live a free man when you took with you my soul.
I know that you would want me to stay free and never face that prison again
But the walls need to be there for I feel so much safer when I am within
Am I afraid of what's outside or what I take within the walls with me?
Maybe I'm hiding from pain and that pain will never allow me to be free
So the walls you walked through so easily will be built stronger this time
So I may in solitude ponder the consequence of my crime
For you fought so hard to free me and I just sat back and let you go
And the thought of that shall fore'er be a burden to my soul.
My Love
Should I continue to mourn my love
Or give my thanks to the Lord above
For the moment I walked in the light,
That short moment when everything was so right?
And I think I already know
This love will never end I feel down in my soul
My life is better having known
A love, the likes of which stays with me, never leaves me 'lone.
Memories can make me cry or sing
For having known what joy love can bring
I could have lived, lived my entire life through
Never having known the kind of love found with you
And I am glad I got to know
And when my life shall end, know it shall still be so
And I am glad that I was shown
A love, the likes of which stays with me, never leaves me 'lone
My Garden
My garden has become overgrown
With things which were by my hand not sown.
With dreams of a rich harvest,
From my garden I took my rest,
So, perhaps they were sown by elect
When to take rest I did elect.
But it mattered not how they got there,
Just for my garden I needed to care
Or there would be no harvest to reap
Though the soil was rich and the seeds were deep
So with my eyes open to the need,
Rolled up my sleeves and began to weed.
I know the labor is far from being done
As I water my garden with the setting sun
But the food I harvest shall be so sweet
On the day the work is complete.
