Upon The Hill

The roses smell so sweetly
Behind the picket fence,
The grass is rich and green
It gives off a fresh cut scent.

The lilacs are in full bloom
The veranda has been swept,
One glance the eye can see
How well the garden has been kept.

The shadow in the window
Shows and old, but gentle soul,
I heard she took up residence
Not too long ago.

No one seems to know
How she keeps her home alive,
There is never any outside help
And no visitors' stop by.

She enjoys her solitude
Each and every day,
She is seen sometimes at midnight
I heard a neighbor say.

As the watch her in the moonlight
They say it gives them chills,
For she is intently speaking
To someone upon the hill.

I hear she turns quite beautiful
When the moon shines down so bright,
To me there isn't any doubt
To whom she speaks at night.

I'm told she's still in good health
Violets bloom on her window sill,
And I think she owes it all
To her friend upon the hill.....

Because Of You

I mistook by trying to ameliorate,
I tried to listen to you the best I can.
As for school, sometime I ran late,
Just by attempting to be your last man.

I ran out of time when we're talking.
I can't discern mentally days & nights.
I think more than twice before acting,
Just to avoid depressions and fights.

I rarely interact with my best friend,
Just to win nothing, but your faithfulness,
And not to bring about a tragic end
To our relationship in good success.

I am an ardent admirer,
Who's trying to get you attention,
And, often, a good inqirer,
Who's trying to get a special mention.

I knew, I disobeyed sometime,
Not to loose you, but to keep you.
I'm proud of the fact I've done no crime
And I've done all of them because of you!

Twas The Night Before The Sugar Bowl

Twas The Night Before The Sugar Bowl

And all through the house,

All the TVs were on,

And fans were on the couch.

The helmets were polished,

Shined with great care,

In hopes that the Tigers

Would bring home the hardware.

The players were nestled

All snug in the bunks,

While visions of Sugar Bowl glory

Made their hearts thump.

Dad in his Sugar Bowl shirt

And I in my cap, jad just settled

Down for a short cat nap,

When out on the law I heard a great noise,

And falling out the front door just recovered my poise,

When what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a gray headed man with a whistle, but no beard.

I knew in a moment it must be Coach Miles,

He had a purple and gold gleam in his eys.

And he yelled and shouted and called them by name,

His players were ready to start the game.

Now Russell, Now Pittman, Now Vincent and Bowel.

Let's line 'em boys, we're ready to go!

To the bus they dashed with equipment in hand,

Followed by that nations best marching band.

They arrived at the Super Dome ready to play,

And stomped the Fighting Irish at the end of the day.

So, way to Geaux, Tigers!

Champions once again.

Sending home the Irish sadly back to South Bend.

Missing Piece

You do what you're suppose to do,
with no frown or fuss.
Not because you want to ,
but because you must.
Day after day
It's like a routine.
Don’t have too much to say,
You only do the right thing.
Soon you feel empty,
but you don't know what it could be.
You want no sympathy.
But it's something you can't see
Everything used to make sense,
but now you're lost in a maze.
You feel so tense,
and you pray for better days.
Something just doesn't seem right
You look for an answer that's not there.
You stay awake all night,
But you feel like no one cares.
It's right in your face
and you think it's safe,
or should you forget?
Things don't seem the same,
But what should you do?
You think you should change,
But change for who?
Understanding means nothing to you now.
Your heart is pronounced deceased
This should you allow ,
or find your missing piece?

Slow Tears

I look up
as a tear rolls slowly
down my cheek
I think about better days
and wonder if I'll feel that way again
you look at me
with those eyes I know so well
always serious, so deep and insightful
as though you're always in control
But not today
not now
Now you look so scared
like for once you don't have the answer
I gaze at you
looking deep into those hazel eyes
Hoping to understand
why you've said those things you did
I wonder for a moment
if this is all a dream
if I shall wake in the morning
and be relieved
you look at me
with a confusion I have never seen
slowly pull me towards you
and wipe the tears from my cheek

When Love Begins

I always knew that love would come find me someday
but never did I know that it would be you who was headed my way
you caught me off guard and took me by surprise
but you simply captivated me, the same way you do when I look into your eyes

It's true that every good and perfect gift is from above
you were presented to me as a beautifully packaged gift full of humor, talent, intelligence, beauty and love
"it isn't finding the perfect person but learning to see an imperfect person perfectly"
we all have our flaws but when I view you through my eyes, perfection is all I see

From when you laugh to when you're upset, I still love the little things you do
especially hearing you laugh and seeing your nose wrinkle the same way mine does too
coming into this relationship has been hard at times but we've made it through
I know as long as we're on this journey together, there's nothing that we can't do.

Sometimes I wonder if what we have is too good to be true
too scared to get my heart broken and scared of the thought of losing you
but in the end, I trust in the author and perfecter of what I believe
because what we ask for in Him, we in return shall receive

"Where your treasure is, your heart will be also" is how the saying goes
I may not know what tomorrow may bring, for God is the only one who knows
the one thing I do know is that you are my one and only
a treasure in my heart that I want to devote my whole life to completely

I know I don't need to prove my feelings to know they're true
because what I've known in my past, doesn't come close to the experience I've shared with you
I've had the experience of being in relationships before
however, this is the first time I've been truly
