โAnd the Lord said, โSimon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.โ โ Luke 22:31-32 (KJV)

Lack of Love Will Damn You To Hell
Everyone That Hates His Brother Has A Heart Of A Murderer.
In 1 John 3:14-15 it clearly states that โhe who hates his brother is a murderer and such a person does NOT have eternal life in him.โ And notice that this scripture is addressed to believers โ not to unbelievers. Itโs true that this scripture applies to both believers and unbelievers but this scripture is specifically applied to โbelievers.โ As it is, unbelievers (unless they repent and give their lives to Jesus) will be damned to Hell anyway because of a lack of salvation. But those โbelieversโ that refuse to love their brothers will also be damned to Hell. Let us read:
โ14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. 15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.โ 1 John 3:14-15.
A very important fact about 1 John 3:14-15, and indeed the whole book of 1 John, is that this message is addressed to the church โ the body of believers in Jesus Christ โ or those who have previously confessed Jesus to be their Lord. This is evident from 1 John 3:1 (NASB) which says: โ1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are.โ
Notice that 1 John 3:14-15 is now claiming that those who hate their brothers (or donโt have love for others in the church) are really NOT saved โ they are in spiritual death.
It was written because those in the church were not always behaving with love to others in the church. They confessed to have Jesus as their Lord (and maybe at one time Jesus truly was their Lord) but now their actions to others is showing they are back in death โ without eternal life. To emphasize this point John states in verse 15 that because they hate their brother they are equivalent to a murderer. Furthermore John (actually the Holy Spirit through John) emphasizes that just like a murderer they do NOT have eternal life abiding in them. It is a satanic deception (which many modern day โChristian Teachersโ promote) that states that this verse is not talking about loss of salvation here. The Holy Spirit is very clearly stating here that those who hate their brother do NOT have eternal life.
โEveryone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.โ 1 John 3:15
Either John the apostle is lying or many modern day โChristian Teachersโ are lying.
It doesnโt matter that in past time they truly did receive Christ and lived properly. The fact that they are now not loving their brothers shows that they now do not have eternal life โ they are not saved now โ even though previously they were saved.
Similar to someone who lusts after a woman but does not actually commit the physical act of fornication with the woman Jesus states that that man is still an adulterer. In like manner, even though a person may not physically commit the physical act of murder a person who hates is still a murderer. He has the heart of a murderer. He may not commit the murderer for fear of getting caught and taken to jail or getting the death penalty. But his heart is still that of a murderer. He's a murderer because indulging in that passion, if followed to its natural conclusion would indeed make him one. It's the murderous temper, not just the mere act of murder that disqualifies one from eternal life. If it were not for the outward restraints of human laws, and the fear of punishment the uncontrolled temper would ultimately lead to the act of murder. The spirit that would lead to murder is there. Nothing is missing but the outward restraints to lead to the actual murder. And so God will hold him or her responsible for it.
Love or hate, light or darkness, eternal life or eternal death โ they both necessarily exclude each other. Love and hate -- there is no medium between the two. Either you are alive or you are dead. Either you love or you hate. If you are in Christ then you will love another โ even if he harms you or seeks to harm you. If you are in Christ you will not in any way have malice, rage, or unforgiveness against another. If you do, then you do not have Christ within you. And you do NOT have eternal life within you.
The apostle John (actually the Holy Spirit through John) clearly states that such a person does NOT have eternal life in him or her. Do not deceive yourself. God is not telling us this just for effect. He is deadly serious about this warning. And this warning is to keep us safe. God always warns us so that we can avoid Hell.
Chapter 9: How to Love
1 Corinthians 13 : The Love Chapter
I also include 1 Corinthians 12:31 and 1 Corinthians 14:1 which are also relevant to 1 Cor 13. (The original letters from Paul were not separated into chapters and verses.)
Since God is love (1 John 4:8) it is very good to spend time to study this chapter. The more you love, the more you become like God, the closer you get to God, and the closer you attain His character. Also, it helps greatly to understand how to love in order to become aware when you are failing or weak in loving others. Also having a loving heart makes is easy and natural to have a forgiving spirit โ keeping you safe in the arms of Jesus.
In fact a most revealing verse along these lines is 1 John 4:17 which says, โBy this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as He is so also are we in this world.โ Let us face it and face it squarely. Everyone and I mean everyone, stated Christian or not, we are all going to face โjudgment day.โ Notice that John was addressing 1 John 4:17 to believers. So all will face โJudgment Day.โ It is best if we all prepare and obey. And God highly desires that we do not suffer loss on that day โ especially loss of eternal life. And so we must carefully listen to Him and obey.
And as revealed in this verse (1 John 4:17), if we truly act in love towards God and towards other human beings (truly: meaning genuinely and truly and sincerely loving others from the heart) then we will act accordingly and then we can have confidence for our judgment day. And this nature and character of love is the same as God has for all people - the people He lovingly created. And He lovingly created all people - of every color, race, and nationality, and He eagerly desires for everyone to come to Jesus to be saved and washed clean from all their sins.
With this always in mind let us major on the major items in the bible.
And the major commandments are:
1. Loving God, and
2. Loving others.
And one of the major teachings of love is 1 Cor 12:31 to 14:1. First let us read the whole passage. After this we will study each line, verse by verse.
1 Corinthians 12:31-14:1
1 Cor. 12:31 But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.
1 Cor. 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
1 Cor. 13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
1 Cor. 13:3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, [Some early manuscripts body that I may boast] but have not love, I gain nothing.
1 Cor. 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
1 Cor. 13:5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
1 Cor. 13:6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
1 Cor. 13:7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Cor. 13:8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
1 Cor. 13:9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
1 Cor. 13:10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.
1 Cor. 13:11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.
1 Cor. 13:12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
1 Cor. 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Cor. 14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.
Verse By Verse Study:
1 Cor. 12:31 But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.
Eagerly Desire The Greater Gifts - Love
There are many great gifts that we can use to serve the body of Christ. Of course, these gifts are given, by God, to various members of the church to minister to others. Of all
