the teacher won’t let me do labs, glad I get a free ‘A’ out of that. Someone raised their hand in class.
“Excuse me sir, but this table only seats two and I am the third person seating here so why don’t I just go seat me with Bridget?”
Oh man, I know that voice.
“Oh, it’s quite fine son, you don’t have to force yourself.”
“Thanks, man.”
I raised my hand defensively and then put it back down again. This was my opportunity to get information from him. Later I could get him to change back to another seat. He swerved through chairs and passed by a seemingly goth chick who gave him a wink of the eye. He smiled back. Please, one friends goth and the other is a seemingly middle schooler. How weird is that? Wait, what if their more than that? Impossible, it’s his first day; he can’t have a girlfriend yet. Or can he? Why does it even matter?!
“Hey, you know that teacher really seems nice. Especially to you.”
I gave him a fake smile. How’d he get here so fast?
“So, why doesn’t anyone sit with you? Wait you don’t allow anyone, do you?”
I ignored his question. “So, what about you, what brings you here to lakeshore high?”
“Oh, my dad got shipped here. We don’t move much, but this place is 10 times better than my old high school. I’ve never been to a school with three stories to it.” He whispered back.
He probably went to an elementary school by accident. “That’s because we have the best programs around since my parents’ are always giving such generous donations to the school.” I smiled prestigiously.
“Oh, so they give you freebees because your parents pay the schools fees. Wow, the school must bow down to you.” He symbolically bowed his head with two arms bowing up and down in front of my direction. I snorted, I couldn’t help it. It was funny the way he did it. Everyone looked back. Oh, man! I covered my noise and hit the side of Brandon’s shoulder with my elbow. He turned around slowly back toward the teacher with a little smile on his face until he started writing in his notebook. He is so weird; I hope the football players bash him in the head. Maybe then his head can screw on right.
Heading to my explorer I found myself so annoyed with classes today that I couldn’t even stand another minute, not even for lunch. I had almost made it to my car door when the bridge cracked like the Titanic and I hit bottom.
“Hey, you need some help.” A low voice spoke. It held out a hand for me but I couldn’t see who it was from the sun blocking their face. I put my hand to my forehead trying to find out who it was. I wasn’t going to receive help from a geek or nerd today. It would be hard enough to try to explain Braydon if anyone saw him coming out of the girls’ bathroom after I had.
“Who is it?” I probably looked pretty stupid right now on the cement ground squinting my eyes like a parakeet while holding my broken heel for dear life. I quickly took the offered hand and stood up. Fixing my hair I looked in astonishment at Cooper, the football teams’ captain.
“Oh, it’s you Cooper. I wasn’t expecting you.” I put up my hand to my mouth in an ‘oh my gosh’ gesture.
“It’s cool.” Cooper said and then did the move I like the most; he put his hand to the back of his spiky black hair like an idiot, smiling all goofy like. So cute!
“No, really. I’m so sorry.”
“Oh, Bridget you know I don’t mind helping out a girlfriend of mine.”
Huh, girlfriend. And since when did he have more than one girlfriend? “Look, Braydon I-
“Braydon, who’s Braydon?”
“What?”
“You called me Braydon. Who is this Braydon? Is he your new conquest or something because I’m not good with competition?” Cooper asked seriously.
“Oh, um he’s no one. The name just came to mind for no reason.” Please believe me, please believe me!
“Just kidding” Cooper hit me in the shoulder with his fist in a masculine way. Ouch. “No one can compete with me, even you know that Bridget.” Cooper walked away with that arrogant yet sexy butt of his. Oh! So unfair. Focusing myself back on my heel after Cooper’s butt was out of my rear view I scooped up the broken heel and as I was about to get in my car my luck ran away from again.
“Hey, Bridget I forgot to catch up with you. I was just wondering what picture you want posted for the sophomore prom when you win?” Josh is the tech specialist at school and the noblest geek of all. That’s probably why his orange hair sprouted when he hit puberty; instead of girls, he got games.
“Can’t anyone just leave me alone!?” I just couldn’t take anything anymore. I basically jumped into my white explorer and almost drove off before Josh got the words out, “Don’t forget about the game tonight at 6. Don’t forget!”
