My eyes welled up in tears as I saw myself run away from the only boy I thought would ever love me. My Derek, he used to be so sweet, so kind and caring, but that was before he ruined my high school life.
As I focused back to reality, I could see my bossโ€™s face looking at me with confusion and surprise.
โ€œI-Iโ€™m sorry. I just-โ€œ
โ€œShall we move on?โ€ Demitri interrupted, saving me from an embarrassing explanation.
โ€œNo, I want to hear from her. What happened back there Ms. Aggorio?โ€ My boss shot, looking at me with calculating eyes.
I shriveled away from his look. It reminded me too much of Derek.
โ€œThat was my boyfriend in high school,โ€ I cleared my throat before continuing, โ€œhe-he just didnโ€™t like me doing some things,โ€
โ€œClearly not,โ€ he scoffed, judging me again with those deep blue analytical eyes.
I looked over to Demitri, silently pleading for help.
He just simply shook his head, and ushered me to continue.
โ€œH-he, hated me. But it wasnโ€™t always that way. He used to be so sweet, caring, considerate, loyal. Everything changed though, after weโ€™d dated for 4 months. Soon, he fed off of our popularity. Everyone loved us as a couple, and Derek began to see it as a feeding source. He wanted more attention, more fame from our friends and acquaintances. I didnโ€™t mind at first, but things began to get worse,โ€ Letting out a deep breath, I continued, โ€œHe started finding faults in me, whether it was my hair, or my clothes, or what I ate, he was constantly controlling me. His reputation was so important to him, that he would do anything for it, and well, you saw what happened.โ€
Looking up, Mr. McHaleโ€™s face was emotionless. I sat there, dumbfounded. After pouring out my whole freaking soap opera story, he still couldnโ€™t find any sympathetic bone in his body to comfort me, offer encouraging words, or hell, maybe even just smile and say itโ€™s alright!
Huffing, I crossed my arms and looked over to Demitri, who was watching our exchange in interest. Snapping him out of his analytical haze, Demitri cleared his throat, โ€œVery well. We must continue on. Mr. McHale, letโ€™s go back to your old days,โ€
