class she went to.
The teacher told them to get on their school issued laptops, and with a partner, find out as much as they could on global warming, and why some think it will be the cause of the end of the world.
"Do you think that global warming will be the cause for the world to end?" Jonathan asked absentmindedly as he researched.
"No," Kimberlyn said with absolute confidance. She didn't know why, but she knew this was not the reason, yet she had no idea what the reason really would be. Her confidant tone had caused Jonathan to look up from his computer, and glanced at her.
"What makes you think so?" he asked, his voice sounding slightly more interested.
"I'm not sure," Kimberlyn said, "I just have this strong...feeling that global warming's not the cause."
"Do you have a theory on what it would actually be?" Jonathan asked.
"No, but when I think of one, I'll probably use it as my story plot." Kimberlyn answered.
Jonathan nodded, and they continued the assignment.
After class, the teacher asked to see Kimberlyn before she went to her next class. "Yes?" she asked, coming up to stand by the teachers desk. She had never liked this teacher. She was very big and round, and had cold grey eyes, with hardly any eyebrows at all. She had glasses that were almost bigger than her face, and she loved to torment every kid at least once. She had yet to torment Kimberlyn.
"You looked a little upset when I mentioned the assignment. Are you ok? Or was the assignment to scary for the little girl to comprehend?" she asked, half mockingly, and half cooing, as if she were talking to a three year old, not a fifteen, almost sixteen year old.
"No, ma'am, the assignment was fine. I looked that way because...I had just remembered that I had forgot to say hello to you as I walked into class." Kimberlyn lied quickly. Mrs. Moreno knew it was a lie, because she never said hello to her before class, but with nothing else to do, she let her leave class.
Kimberlyn went through the rest of her day, trying to keep attention away from the fact that she didn't really support the school's new idea, to prevent anymore confrontations like the one she had with Mrs. Moreno. She didn't even wait for Jonathan after school, choosing instead so walk home by herself.
When she arrived home, Kimberlyn ate dinner by herself. Her parents worked as doctors and were more than often at work, or just not home. Most of the time they just left her with some money in the morning before they went to work, and left her wondering why they didn't just live there.
So there was no one there when she had the dream...
She was at school, and Jonathan and Kimberlyn were laughing and talking. Then, Brett-a footballl player that Kimberlyn hated because he liked to make fun of and embarass Jonathan-walked out of a hallway that branched off to their right, the side that Jonathan was walking on. Then Brett pushed passed Jonathan, and Jonathan fell into the hallway. Only, it wasn't a hallway, but a staircase. Jonathan fell, and Kimberlyn could only feel helpless as she watched him, knowing there wasn't anything she could do. When he reached the bottom, there was the horrible crack of a broken bone, and a pained cry from the bottom of the staircase. Without really stopping to think, Kimberlyn ran down the staircase to find Jonathan on the floor, his arm at an akward angle, and his warm brown eyes full of pain. She also knew he was trying not to show how badly he was really hurt, because he didn't want to worry her, but she knew him too well....

Kimberlyn woke up gasping in her bed, full of worry for Jonathan. Was he alright? What had happened to him? She was just reaching for her phone when she glanced out of her window and saw that it was still too early for him to be awake, and that he was probably at his house, asleep, and not at the bottom of some staircase. She let out a breath of relief as she realized it had only been a dream. At least, it had only been a dream THEN.
