somewhere where no one could see me I looked up PSSS, PSSSS I hissed to him he looked down “Signal to hold the crowd there the then follow me I have an idea.” Then I ran off he signaled toward the crowd then followed me to where I waited. “Here.” I reached for the towel in my pocket I ripped it down the center and rapped it around my leg. “O.K. This is the last part of my plan. Hold me.” “What?” “Come on carry me! Trust me it will work.” Shrugging his shoulders he reached for me and hoisted me up and carried me over the hill and speculated me to the crowd they cheered giving a standing ovation. “You realize what this means right?” I cockily whispered. “What?” He answered with a smile. “You are the envy of the village and the new heart throb saving me when no one else could you’re a hero. And if anyone asks it’s just a scratch.” “Yeah I guess I am.” “Don’t let that fame go to your head.” “Just as long as you keep what happened in the barn a secret.” I laughed I was the one who was blushing now my cheeks were red. He looked at me as he gave me over to my fiancé. “You’ve done well my son.” Mao belted congratulating his son with a pat on the back. His brother holding me in his arms was not outwardly jealous but you could see in his eyes and smile that he was. Mobs of girls were crowed around Luke screaming and panting. I was happy for him but my eyes if you stared hard enough were a little jealous too.
I think I kind of liked him back well there’s no knowing weather or not I did at the time or not. Smiles all around were excited for us our happy times but I couldn’t help think that through all of this we forgot something. I looked around the wolf was there Luke was fine and so was I as far as I know. But what was the thing we were forgetting. The cheering was starting to bug me and Josh with me in arms carried me up the stairs of the temple to accompany Mao. Mao looked down at all the people then at Luke then finally at us. Josh put me down and Mao grinning from ear to ear Mao thanked Luke once again and then dismissed us all. Luke, after Mao and Josh walked back inside the temple stepped over to me. “What are we going to do?” “No one’s going to find out.” “No not about that, about the wedding.” My eyes were now opened to what my mind never even thought to look over. “My gosh I was so worried about fame getting to your head I forgot about it getting to you brothers.” “He only wants to marry you so that he can be the hero of the village.” “This village is huge fifteen to twenty miles in all directions from the field to the river there’s no way that one man can handle all of this.” “What are we going to do?” He pondered. “We have to find a way to postpone the wedding.” He looked at me surprised. “There’s no other way.” He nodded and turned toward the entrance of the temple we walked in on Mao and Josh having a conversation. Josh turned and gave us an evil eye his eyes were filled with fire and anger he turned to the right side of Mao to overrule our conversation. “Father,” Luke began, “we would like to talk to you. It’s about the wedding”- “We would like to change the date.” I interrupted. “What the meaning of this there is nothing to discus our village is in a state of reassurance there is no need to make changes and we have decided the perfect date for you and Josh’s special day.” “But I don’t know him well enough to marry so soon give us another year.” “A YEAR!” He shouted, “It will also give Josh time to work on his hero training. It’s Imperative that he trains with without it he might not be the right hero.” Mao looked around thinking about what I said but he Josh wasn’t convinced. “They’re trying to sabotage my up bringing to the leader of our warriors!” “Now, now, now Josh give them a chance she obviously wants to get to know you before she marries and that is perfectly normal and I will allow it.” He sits there and smirks as he watches as Luke and I make our way out of the temple. We walk around the corner; delighted expressions were plastered on our faces. “How about this” Luke said trying to make a point, “Meet me in the field and we’ll celebrate.” I looked at him thinking this was a trick he was joking he had to be. “What do you mean celebrate?” I questioned. “Exactly that I’ll get it all together you don’t have to do anything.” He smiled at me urging me to go along with it and I smiled back letting him know that I would like to join him on his efforts to make this day even better. I walked along the walls of the temple thinking what it was going to be like were we going to just sit there or is he going to do more than just a picnic. But Luke is a decent guy a nice young man there was no reason to be suspicious. I slid open the doors of my room along the wall of the temple and the maids were all sitting on my bet listening to the conversation being had outside my bedroom doors. I walked to them saying, “What do you think your doing spying on my conversation thinking this is some kind of show wanting to know my business for shame.” They all drooped their heads in shame and the youngest one walked up to me and tugged on my hem. “Ms. I didn’t mean to listen.” I picked her up her soft skin rubbed up against my rough skin I smiled if you wanted to know so bad I would have told you. Their faces perked up and made room for me on the bed. We sat there talking into the after noon I described to them the details of the day and telling them in sworn secretary that they wouldn’t tell about my late night adventure. I saw that if I didn’t leave now I would be late for the picnic. I walked to the fields where he was sitting he stood up letting me know where he was he was on the top of the hill. There was a sweet tree hanging over the hill covering the blanket and basket and him with leaves and flowers blooming from the tree. It’s always something with this place its, its beautiful it’s a wonderful place with the most gorgeous flowers that seem to always be in bloom. And the grass was as soft as a pillow filled with lamb’s wool so soft and graceful blowing in the breeze creating ripples like a drop of water flowing and reminding us of the beauty of the world. He sat there at the top of that hill being covered with flowers from the cherry blossom tree and the field smelled of the flowers so beautifully pink. He stood there waiting for me his arms extended as soon as he caught sight of me. His patient face was a warm welcome. “There you are.” He shouted over the hill at me his humor woven through his words. “I was starting to get worried. His arms embraced me and I softly pulled away letting him know that once again I didn’t feel the same way. Or did We sat there for moments and talked ate the food that he so carefully brought and then the strangest sound did stir through my mind and I looked at Luke the sound didn’t seem to bother him at all. It looked to him like it was a natural sound. But what about me the sound went on and I stared to get used to it and the more I listened to it the more I remembered and the more I wanted to know what it was. Then it clicked I new that sound, I of course didn’t know what it was but I knew of it. I looked to Luke fast and said, “What is that?” He looked at me with a puzzled face like I was crazy. “What is what?” He asked back completely confused at what I was talking about. “The screeching sound, the noise!” “Is it bothering you?” “No, look when I was alone in that forest I heard that sound everyday and has been puzzled with it ever since. But what is that sound?” He chuckled and then laughed and then was on his back laughing and laughing. My anger grew with each chuckle and pause between. He came up from his laughter his face red and his eyes were in tears I asked, “What was so funny?” “That sound,” he said “that sound is the Dimorphodons they are very peculiar creatures but they are very easily startled and are very fragile. Would you like to see one?” He took me by the hand and led me down the hill and through the trees of the forest and he knealt behing a bush then turned his head to look at me his eyes were sparkling in the sun he extended his hand and softly grabbed mine then led me to his level. My face was blushing as he probed his hands in the bush to and created a hole and gazed through it. The sight was amazing like nothing I've ever seen before a wonderful and majestic sight was before my eyes and my adrenalin surged!...
