needed to get away for a while. I figured sheโd been in love him.
Pete put the paper down on the bar. โAny interesting cases lately?โ
โNot since Issacs.โ
โI wasnโt surprised to learn that the old man was involved in Izzyโs death somehow, but I didnโt expect him to be the one to actually do it.โ
โGiven the right circumstances weโre all capable of murder.โ

Youโve shown that somebody other than me cared about him. You deserve a free lay. Itโs the least I can do for all youโve done.โ
โErr---, no thanks. At least not tonight. I have to get back to the precinct. Iโm still on the clock. I just stopped in for a quick beer. Besides, Harry is waiting in the car.โ
โOkay, but youโre getting a rain check Detective Fisher. And please thank Harry for me too.โ

Why not take her up on her offer, I thought. โI guess thatโs my cue, but Iโll be back to collect on that rain check at a later date.โ I stood up and grabbed her around the waist. I planted my lips against hers and kissed her as passionately as I could. After all, sheโd probably be comparing me to a lot of men. I just hoped that none of her lovers had been H.A.I.B.โs. Imprint
