A Prison for Paradise by Gabrielle B-G (best way to read e books txt) π
Excerpt from the book:
As each opportunity had slipped away, we learned to sacrifice our consciences for this sociopath's economy. As every minute escaped, a greedy mouth swallowed another placebo. The world had lost all love and bliss. And so we prostrated ourselves to billboards and worshiped technological madness. That is how we had traded our souls for an empire of greed. That is how we had made a prison for paradise.

last hope was to get into the right truck, but I wasnβt sure which one. I finally saw the name that you had mentioned and tried to get in but this cruel man caught me.
He took me to what they call The Treatment Center. They tried to control me, to drown out my thoughts with rules and games. But something happened. It was like a miracle! Like I took over! I found these people here, these people Sarah...she whispered into my ear, "they came from stories. They told me you would be coming here. They knew you were special, that weβre meant to save the world from control.β
βIβm glad youβre all alive,β I said but I was shaking.
Molly replied, "We canβt let ourselves die. We have to keep the dream alive, no matter what the test. We have to keep stay true to the true creator. She brought us here for a reason."
My eyes got really wide as Molly simply nodded. "Yes the ONE will save us all."
I didnβt know what to say. I had found her; I knew it in my heart. This was the real Molly. And that huge building with fences and police men and tortured children...could not break the bond of two sisters. I looked down to see the shadow of a tall man carrying food. I was so amazed at how these people were surviving, living, and eating under the watchful eye of oblivionβ¦and no one bothered them. There were people from every part of history. Were they Angels? Avatars? I didn't know.
Later I couldnβt shake the thoughts of my dream away. Why did that dream seem so real? These were like the people in my dream, the ones I had called out to who I wanted to help in so many ways. I said a prayer to myself. And for the first time, I realized that I didnβt need to wander anymore. I was safe. I didnβt need to be afraid as I sat there with Molly and watched the great building that towered over, light up like some brilliant star lost in outer space. I watched the sun set over our wasteland. I closed my eyes at last.
The Great Foundation has crumbled at last, and I remember it all with bright clarity. I remember my motherβs face, her wails as we hurried off in search of our destination. I remember Meridia and the ocean and my brother. We were never meant to be soldiers, to fight a war like this. We were never meant to submit to those blinding lights, because the Goddess had a story to tell that was yet to be told. Where are we now? In some ways, you could say that weβre everywhere. Because no matter what happens, weβll keep coming back. We are Molly and Sarah, daughters of the stars and children of destiny. Follow our path and you will find your freedom. Imprint
