least frightened and went back to sleep almost immediately.
Tne next morning I woke up clear-headed and in a happy mood. As we finished our breakfast, Granpa Rodney asked me: "Did you sense anything last night?β
"Yes! " I replied, "but I didn't think it was important. My glass of water was not where I had originally placed it. Did you put it away, Granpa?"
"I twasn't me, darling. It was Granny Lee.β
I looked at him stunned.
"Indeed," he went on, "we had a discussion together around one a.m., and before I could stop her she had slipped into your room. βI wish to pay my grand-daughter a visitβ she had insisted. When she came back I scolded her. You know how impatient Granny Lee can be, though she always means well. Sometimes when I call Daddy for a serious conversation, she butts in and I have to send her away. 'You haven't made an appointment with me,' I tell her. 'Rules are devised to be respected.' She shrugs her shoulders and says I've become too finicky."
I didn't know what to answer and wondered about Granpa Rodney's double life. "There are certain things ordinary people will never understand," I thought. "Not even my wonderful, sensible mom." Imprint
