“Why did you say Keith?”
“Well, I don’t know. Maybe it was the gator that said Keith too.”

For the remainder of our time at the pond, there was a little bit of Keith in every cast. There was a little bit of Keith in every hooked bass and there was certainly a little bit of Keith in each cuss word from every missed one. I half expected to look across the pond and see Keith standing, on the other side, telling me how the fish pull better once you cross over.

I had often considered that when our time has run up, that we don’t really pass on like a rocket ship, up into the sky to some far away land that’s tucked nicely in a little pearl-crusted galaxy in the nether regions of the universe. I don’t think Keith would much care for streets made of gold. I often considered that we become closer to the here and now more than ever before. Feeling Keith and hearing his name come from the most unlikely of places, that reality felt more real than anything else.

Today, for a few brief moments, the other side of the pond where Keith is currently fishing, spent a little time on this side of it.
