former head honcho sitting serenely behind his desk and sipping mightily on a martini probably from the bar up front with that trademark wicked grin plastered on his muzzle as he turned and looked at us. As I suspected, he began to address me first. “Ah. Gevo. Just the wolf I wanted to see.” He purred in an oily tone. “Oh yeah.” I fired back. “Well, I’ve definitely been looking for you as well.” A hard jab in my side from Iki shut me up quick but Mitchell’s piercing red eyes burned holes into my body and soul as he continued to stare with that same smug grin, seemingly unaffected by the bitter words and tone I’d just exchanged with him. “Ooh. Very poor, poor choice of words from you, my star pupil. I definitely expected better.” He turned to his two goons in the room. “Boys, why don’t you kindly show these four gentlewolves and mutt the way out.” He said, putting an emphasis on that nasty and derogatory insult toward Kiri at the end. Kiri bared her teeth and growled furiously at him and the two jackals that stood her up as we were walked out back through the backstage hall and out into the main show area. When we made it half past the bar and lounge area, that’s when I sprung a secretly devised plan stored deep in the corner of my brain into action. I activated the two hidden blades on my gauntlet gloves and swiftly jammed them into the throats of the two jackals on each side then forcefully ripped them back out, letting the goons slowly fall to the floor; gurgling on their own blood. The others in the showroom saw what had happened and rushed over to the two’s aid and began swinging punches at me and the rest of the crew, only to hit nothing but air and be on the receiving end of a slash of one of my blades to the throat and a stab right to the eye for another to my left. By the time those two were down and Iki and the others had taken down about four more, another group of about three plus jackals plus their inglorious leader, Mitchell swaggered into the room from the backstage area, heavily armed with AR-15 assault rifles and about the best grade body armor any organized crime gang in the country could ever dream of getting their grubby mitts on. “Well, well, well. Look what we’ve got here.” Mitchell cooed. “Once again, the mighty senpai has schooled his student and totally took full advantage of his tutee’s weakness. You’ve got nowhere to run now, dear Gevo. So, you might as well just say your prayers.” At that very moment, just when I thought they were all going to pull the triggers on their weapons, someone else from behind managed to pull theirs and almost instantly the two jackals on either side of Mitchell toppled over like trees to the floor, bleeding heavily from a single grapefruit sized bullet hole to the back of the heads. I focused my attention to the backstage door where the shots had come from to see an ever familiar female black bear dressed in a jet black leather jacket, black tee, long charcoal gray leather trousers, and all black biker type leather boots. She kept her black desert eagle pistol precisely focused and aimed on Mitchell in case he decided to make any more sudden moves and I almost instantly recognized her as Kaya Turner, the FBI agent who the organization had given the contract for me to take out nearly a month and a half ago but ultimately failed to do after she had opened up fully my blind eyes to the injustice and corruption of my former employer’s operations across the country and eventually warmed up to me and stole my heart then likewise she locked hers with mine and we’d been happy ever since. Her beautiful jade green eyes burned holes of pure odium into Mitchell’s blood red and her teeth were razorblades as she bared them at him in distaste. “You…” Mitchell growled. “You dare show your face along with him in this establishment? I should burry both of your asses alive in the same grave.” Kaya’s mouth twisted into a rueful grin and she chuckled a little before replying, “Yeah? Well, you can sure as hell try.” Mitchell snarled furiously and charged forward directly at Kaya, only for her to stop him dead in his tracks by grabbing him by the arm and bringing her right paw down on it hard, hearing the sickening crunch as the bone snapped and she delivered a hard blow directly to his forehead which rendered him lights out almost the very instant it was given to him. “Thanks for the save.” I said as she slapped a pair of cuffs on his paws. “Ya know, I never had any idea how this cops and killers thing would ever work out but I’m just so glad it’s shaking out to work for us somehow.” She smiled. “Of course it has, sweetheart.” She answered. “As I said once before on the day we met, as long as I’m around, you’ll always have me in your corner.” “Likewise with me.” My brother replied and the others nodded in unison as we gingerly strolled outside of club, Kaya following close behind dragging the still KO’d form of Mitchell out with her and soon turning him over to the paws of the local police where he then began his merrily journey on his way hopefully toward a looney bin and a federal prison facility soon after that. For us, it was time to settle down to the simple life and begin making plans for our wedding day which I hoped would arrive so very soon.
