slowly took us in and when his eyes landed on me, they widened and I heard a sharp intake of breath.
βMy childβ¦β He whispered faintly. I wanted to pass out.
βPaul? F-father?β I muttered, testing the words out on my tongue. They sounded foreign and off. My eyes began to sting and I had the sudden urge to sit down. The floor looked super inviting at that moment. Mark looked down at me with concern but I paid no attention to him.
βDad? Is it really you? Youβre my dad, right?β I softly asked the man before me.
βTrisha, what are you doing here? What is she doing here?β My father said, turning to Mark.
βI had no choice,β Mark replied, βIt was getting too dangerous where she was. Plus her powers have started to develop. She wouldβve been a danger to the people around her.β
βFather,β I cut into Markβs little spiel, βWhy? Whyβd you leave me with those people? Why? Why?β I kept repeating several times, half delirious. This whole thing was madness.
