Ava's POV:
A palm was placed over my mouth, cutting any sound coming from my mouth. My stomach swerved, and my heart started thumping wildly. I wrestled against his stronghold, but he was way too stronger than me. I tried to punt him, but as if reading my mind, he blocked my attack. He tied my hands behind my back. I tried breaking them, but they wouldn't. He started tugging me into some unknown place.
Staggering to my body, I tried to stay rooted but the person tossed me over his shoulder and started walking. After what felt like an afterlife, he stopped walking and put me down. As soon, as my feet touched the ground, I moved away from him. I tried opening my hands but the ropes were too tight. Suddenly, I felt sparks erupting from my body, and I froze. Someone started untying the ropes, the sparks were making my whole body fizzy. Finally, my hands got free and I yanked the backcloth, only to see someone I didn't imagine in my wildest dreams.
"Alpha Xavier,"? I whispered in shock. He was standing before.
"Wha-what," I opened my mouth only to close it again. I don't know what to say.
"I wanted to talk to you," he shrugged and I looked at him in surprise.
"Like this,"? I asked, narrowing my eyes.
"Yeah I know…," he started but I had enough of his crap.
"You have any idea what I went through in this little time. If you don't know how to talk to someone civilly, then don't," I snapped and turned around to walk away.
"As if you have talked to me right,"? He snapped back. It's true, the day he decided to mate with Jessica, I have been avoiding him. It's not that I don't love him anymore. I love him more than anything, it's just that I can't take the pain and agony anymore. I've always loved him, but he broke me into pieces. A lone tear escaped my eyes, reminiscing everything. I had wanted nothing but his love, which I never got. I guess, I was the selfish person in this mate bond, but was I wrong for wanting my mate's love. I always held onto that little thread of hope, but when I decided to finally let him go, then why did he have to do this?
"Come," he said, his voice taking me out of my thoughts. I tried taking my hand back, but he wouldn't let go. Huffing, I let him take me to where he wanted to take me.
He led me to the very end of the rooftop. The view from the roof had a sense of perspective that calmed my soul. The view was a million bucks if it was a dime. I look at the sky, stars shone as sugar split over black marble. glistening in the sun. The sky was such a welcome sight, appearing like magic at each sunset. I smiled, feeling the wind blow my hair into a tousled mane.
"When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind," Alpha Xavier whispered and I looked at him, to see that he was gazing at the sky. He looked at me and then at the sky.
" You see those stars," he asked, pointing to four stars that were self-reliant from the rest of the stars.
"They're my family," he whispered with sadness. I look at him in shock.
"Those two stars that shine the most are my Grampy and Mawmaw," he said looking at the two stars that were together.
"That little star over there is my dog, Kochu, I remembered how I ran around the whole packhouse, showing it to everyone," he said with a small smile playing on his lips. I was shocked, it was the first time we were having these moments. I've always yearned for moments like this with him, and today he initiated everything… Why are you doing this? Why are you making it hard?
"What happened to Kochu," I asked as he stopped talking. I had never seen his dog. He was silent for a moment and then…
"One day, when I came from school, I couldn't find him. I searched everywhere, but he was nowhere. I remember crying that whole day, then after a week, we found him in the back of the packhouse, dead," he whispered and I gasped. I look at him to see tears brimming his eyes. Not holding any back, I slowly took his hand in mine and intertwined our fingers together. He looked at our hands but didn't take his hand back.
"And that one, who is playing hide and seek with us is Donno, my nanny," he smiled.
"All my childhood, she was there for me. She was kind but naughty. She was there for me when my parents…," he stopped mid-sentence and shook his head.
"I was so lonely after them, there was so much anger pent up in me but then I realized that this anger was destroying me, making me weak," he said and looked at me.
" Those who love us, never truly leave us, there are things that death cannot touch," he said and suddenly, Sapphire and the bloodied babies flashed before my eyes. Tears rained in my eyes and Alpha rubbed them away with his thumb.
"They will always be with us, and now Mikey and Oceane are also in my family," he whispered, looking at the sky. I followed his line of vision to see two small stars, slowly moving towards those stars.
We sat there looking at the sky, I looked at our interwoven hands and then at Alpha Xavier, who had his eyes closed. Why does he have to knock on my heart again? When finally, I decided to let him go, why is he now holding me? We both were lost in our worlds, unaware of the angry eyes on us.
