The fun finally stopped at 1:30 a.m. Boredom struck deep and with these three teenage boys boredom was not a thing they would put up with. Out of the three kids there was their mastermind behind all the shenanigans, his birth name was Jerome but they called him "Garcia" after the late musician from one of his favorite bands The Grateful Dead. Then there was Tim who was dubbed Will by the group for reasons unknown, He was the one who was loud and always brought the party. Last but not least there was Sydney who was named by the group, the obvious nickname "Syd" but it was after the late Pink Floyd musician Syd Barrett. They always were with eachother doing anything or nothing at all. Causing trouble or laying on the couch all day. When things get stale is when they do the most risky deeds.
The T.V. was on but no one was paying attention to the idiot box now, because once it's late and there is nothing to watch on Telivision and boredom kicks in everyone gets a little hostile.
"Well this blows", Sluggishly exclaimed Will. While Garcia agreed, Syd wasn't even listening. So that called for Garcia slapping him in the face.
"What the fuck was that for!?", Screamed Syd. Garcia stayed silent but smirked while staring at his red face. At that point Garcia and Will started brainstorming ideas of what to do.
"Maybe we could shit on someone's door step?" Will blurted out.
"No, I'm pretty sure they'll know it's me. Some sort of DNA test will get us tangled with the law." Garcia said.
"No they can't! And even if they could I think they would choose not to", argued Will. Then they all sat in silence for what felt like forever until Syd came up with the perfect idea.
"How about we just ding-dong ditch a house?" Syd muttered.
"We've ding-dong ditched everyhouse on the block, I don't like repeating my self" said Garcia.
"Wait, what about that old house 7 houses down the street?" though Will. They all sat in silence, amazed that there was a house they missed. It almost seemed impossible because they were almost perfectionist's when it came to immature pranks.
"I guess we could do that one, lets go", Garcia excitedly said. Without a word they all got up and went straight out the door.
The cold fresh air woke up the group as if they drank a fresh cup of coffee. They slowly crept down to the almost remote house.
"The lights are off!", Syd said happily. They all looked at eachother expecting one to step forward and ring the door bell. Syd had done it the last two times and Will was not going to do it. No words were exchanged, Garcia knew he had to do it. Garcia slowly walked up to the front of the house while Syd and Will were giggling like school girls. One step felt like an eternity while he got closer and closer to the objective. He wiped the sweat from his brow and crept and quivered his index finger up to the doorbell. Usually he would be able to go up and ding-dong ditch without feeling a thing, but this house felt different. He whispered "here we go" Garcia pressed on the doorbell three times until dashing off the front porch. After he jumped off the porch, things all around him began to dissolve and transform completely. Curse words were shouted by everyone in the group out of fear and confusion. Every step that they took the earth moved beneath them. The sky became gray and they were in a totally different place.
All of the ground was red and there was no grass in sight. The trees were leafless and thin. Everything seemed grim and unimaginative.
"Where the hell are we?", Will said at the pit of his stomach.
"I don't know but we need to get out of here!", yelled Garcia. They all knew they were in a new world, filled with grief and dispair. They walked everywhere yelling things like "Hello", or "is there anybody here?". They hit no response.
After traveling for what felt like forever they foud a house in the middle of this empty dungeoun. Without any discussion Garcia leaped over the porch and banged on the door.
"Help! Help! Please!" Garcia yelled. After waiting for thirty seconds a women opened the door.
"Who are you?" She immediately growled at the group.
"We went to this old house we rang the doorbell, we just landed in this place, and we need to get back to our home!" Will cried.
"Harold come down here, there is some more 'lost ones'." She shouted up the staircase. While the group stood there scared and confused, a tall slender man trotted down the stairs. "So you traveled here from The House, eh?" Harold casually asked.
"Yeah I guess, can you help us return back?" Syd asked. He stared at the group looking at each individual person and then said in a serious tone " You'll travel back the way you came through."
"How do we do that!" Garcia yelled. He again stood in silence for what felt like a dramatic pause.
"Follow the Noise". The group looked puzzled as Harold explained "Every 30 minutes there is a noise, if you follow that correctly you'll get out of here, the next one is in 3 minutes, good luck." Then Harold slammed the door right in front of their faces.
"Well I guess we'll just have to wait for a noise, or whatever." Syd said trying to sound optimistic. Then they waited for what Harold explained as a noise.
Then far in front of the boys there was a loud deep noise that sounded like the devil was shouting himself. "This way!" Garcia ran. The direction of the noise was north of them so they ran and ran until the noise stopped after only seven minutes.
"Wait, why did it stop?" Will yelled.
"I don't know but we just have to keep going in the same direction." said Garcia.
After traveling for several hours they feel the noise becoming more vivid and near. They soon find out that they are near a small vacant town.
"This has to be where the noise is coming from, and if it's not I don't know what I'll do" Will said.
"Let's hope so, we'll just keep moving along till we get to the place of the noise" Syd said hopefully. They then would slowly walk through the town waiting for the noise to appear. After a good wait for the noise it arrived and it was to side of them.
"Ahhh, I think my ear drums are going to explode!" Screamed Garcia. After the noise finally quit they stumbled onto an the porch of an old rickety house.
"Guys, I think this is the one" Syd said relieved
"It sure has that seem feeling" Garcia whispered. They all stood there in awe, after spending what felt like weeks traveling to a noise they had found it. "I don't want to ring it again, I don't even know if we are supposed too. Garcia tried opening the door but it was locked.
"I'll do it." Will blurted out. Syd and Garcia were shocked, Will never would be the only one pulling the deed and with these events that had happened had showed the out of no where bravery from Will.
"Are you Sure?" Syd asked. Without even responding Will walked up to the door and beat his fist into the doorbell. Suddenly The transformation began. They were back in their world. Never would they show affection on the account of the fact that they were teenage boys, but they all hugged and almost welled up. They were relieved to be back home. After these events they never did as much pranks, especially when it came to ding-dong ditching.
They all grew from that experience. Now they knew that something as simple can ringing a doorbell can bring you to a all new world, a world where nothing belongs
