She turned her head and looked away. Her hand was up to her cheek with her fingers curling a strand of her golden hair. โJase,โ She whispered in a shaky voice, โI just canโt see you go through this pain anymore. I canโt stand seeing you upset like this.โ Once she turned around to face me, my eyes pierced into hers. โYou arenโt the same anymore, and sometimes I feel like you donโt even love me.โ
I was drawn back by her words. How could she say such a thing? โDo you understand what Iโve been going through? Do you ever feel how I feel?โ
โNo. But that doesnโt mean you have to treat me like Iโm nothing.โ
โWhen have I ever treated you that way? When has there ever been a day I didnโt tell you I loved you.โ I felt my voice go shaky on itโs own. I swallowed hard and looked at the ground. โYou donโt understand the things I go through. I should just leave you alone.โ
โJase, Iโm sorry..โ
โNo. No you arenโt. You're not sorry till you live a day without a father or mother, haunted by the soul of your little sister, and treated like youโre the dirt people try to get off their shoes.โ
โWeโre done here, Jase. Donโt talk to me for a while," her voice fell silent for a moment, "Iโm sick of you making me feel bad.โ Tears fell from her dark brown eyes and her makeup ran with it. Eyes gleaming as she could barely speak and turned around, calleing out to me, โGood luck getting through this without me.โ
I couldnโt say anything. I stood there and my knees buckled. Unbelievable, leaving me when I need you most. โI canโt..โ I mumbled to myself. I turned around and trudged off to my car, getting into the passenger seat and gripping onto the wheel. I cursed multiple times to get the anger out as I looked to my right and spotted the golden envelope. To prove to you my love lasts forever, read the top of the envelope. I opened it once again and read the letter Iโd written to her. The diamond ring fell in my lap and I picked it up to examine it, bubbling with anger and frustration. I started the car and opened my window, throwing it out as it landed in the grass.
Never in my life had I felt this much pain. After the many deaths that have occurred, the death of my heart was by far the most painful. Sheโd managed to take my heart and rip it to shreds with simple words. As I got to my apartment, I slammed the door behind me and sat on the couch. Tears poured down the skin of my arms and my eyes stung in pain. I cursed under my breath and kicked my shoes off, laying back on the couch, soon crying myself to sleep. That night, the recent events flashed before my dreams. As I was asleep I felt a dark presence pulling me under to a malevolent hell.
No. No longer will I let this take control of me. This sickening depression will ruin me no longer. Are you happy? Are you happy that youโve finally taken everything you could possibly take away from me?
โYes..โ The voice said. I jolted awake and my eyes searched within the room. My arms were shaky from fear. โHeโs there...โ I whispered, โHeโs still there.โ
