~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter One
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just another day. Another town. Another school. Another everything. But it was normal, even comforting, for Macst. She sighed as the bell rang, and she strained her head to look over everyone as she shuffled to the teacher to turn in her papers. Even though she bulldozed a few people, she didn't hear a peep. Macst was the type of person who was quiet, but... you just sort'a knew
not to mess with. Even if they were a bully. Odd thing was, Macst had never talked ever since she came to the district. She often heard the blondes teasing her, but... she was perfect at storing it away for another time. When she actually needed it. Even as she walked through the five thousand students at this school, Macst was the Alpha wolf. She had her paths cleared in a snap. Macst drew herself to reality when she rammed into a new student who didn't know the rules of the hallway. At least, her rules. She sputtered and cursed, but then she helped them pick up their books. As Macst looked up, she saw that 'they' were a boy, had black flippy hair, electrifying green eyes, and had some muscle. Macst sighed, then handed them the books, and then slammed her way through the crowd, with the people finally forgetting her role and sweeping her through.

At the end of the day, Macst ran hurriedly to the one and only place where she could be herself. When she took off her wing cover, she felt vibrant and alive. She smiled and stretched them, feathers blowing softly in the wind. At this very moment, she flit into the sky, swept low on the ground, and whooped with laughter. As she touched down, she flopped over, smiling with idiocy. As she lay there, feeling the grass, her dark brown hair in a mess about the forest floor, Macst felt calm. Home. Peaceful. Like herself.
