Valley Sacred
Epilogue
...................I REmEmBER. I remember the dawn of the mounted warriors. Marred beings whom had journeyed to our land on fierce and mighty mastodons. There were many of them.
The tribe carved many staffs, spears, bows and arrows from the branches of our forestβs trees. Clans gathered talisman items from the creatures of our land. Made they did, feather tied tomahawks. From our sacred mountain rocks, they did use for slingshots. War paint they did shadow their bodies....Beginning to over power mine very people of their life chose....
ARRIVAL
My two brothers and I had gone to the edge of a cliff that had become smoothened by the river, which rushed down itβs high wall into the valley of Deharu. The place roughly made nine days journey from our village. We had gone to gather special vines and pebbles for our grandmother Uridani.
My young brother Khavraen was a skillful, brawny hunter, with gracious forest green eyes and long brown braided hair.
Nyvrhaeki, whom was two years older than I, Was a ground form changer, as well as an experienced paladin. He was cloaked in a plains buffalo hide with many garments of leather underneath.
We each were more of a warrior than all the beings in our tribe, mostly having killed and worshipped more animals, for many suns and moons. We were the only people of our tribe to have journeyed far into the beyond. For that reason, we were the first ones to watch the newcomers appear on our land from gnarly crafted canoes.
At the present moment, we had decided to ward off the strangers.
βBeware, brothers,β Khavraen whispered softly. He stalked before Nyvrhaeki, followed by me, into a den of wild bears. The animals stopped chewing on their carcasses and lifted their heads, sniffing. Familiar with the scent of our tribe, Some of them got up on their hind legs and roared. The others began to walk towards us, growling threateningly. A group of cubs clambered onto a clawed and torn weeping willow tree.
Lifting his spear, and getting into a throwing position, Khavraen indicated for us to do the same. I took hold of my oaken staff while Nyvrhaeki grabbed a rib cage from one of the dead animals and tore it free from itβs remains. Raising it up as a shield, he glanced at Khavraen and then charged at the bears.
Bounding off of a moss covered boulder, Nyvhraeki drifted in the air for a moment and then came smashing down on one of the raised bears. A loud crack reverberated in the sky as the animalβs skull was broken. The body thudded to the ground and lay stilled.
Infuriated, the bears charged dangerously towards him, only to be stopped in confusion by my wild battle cry. I had crept out of line of sight and had joined my brother on a different side. I swung my staff and it landed with a deep thwack on one of the bears backs.
We encircled the remaining bears and slowly drove them in the direction of the newcomers. Khavraenβs spear whizzed by and struck an old bear on the shoulder. The old, wounded bear collapsed under the pressure of the spear and fell off the side of the cliff. Frightened, because their horde leader was now dead, the bears turned and began to descend the mountainside where the strangers were now resting.
βWe are now sworn enemies of the Northeast bear clans,β Khavraen sighed heavily. βWe have done our part to distract those down there who should not be here. Now, it is time for the bears to do their part. Let it be known to the earth-mother that the bodies of the bears we have killed, will not be left to wither untouched by the slaughterers. Let us bring them to our village and feed those who are of hunger.β
Journey
As Emorin reached for another branch on the yew tree he was climbing, he saw through the trees, three bulky silhouettes walking across the hills. It must be them, he thought. For days I have been waiting. We all have. Forgetting about the branch, he fell upon the hard, mossy ground and scraped his arm on a boulder. Scrambling to his feet, he ran to the village and bellowed so that everyone could hear, βThey are here, they have returned, the sons of our chieftain!β
βWe have been found,β said nyvraeki smiling. Khavraen and I nodded, deep in thought. Little did we know, we were pondering over the same thing. Fear of what was to pass.
βAh, my brave sons have returned to us,β spoke Chief Gidaran running up to them. βThey must be tired from the long journey that lays behind them. Rest your shoulders, my fellow men will take care of your burden of carrying your fine catch. Laying the bears down, Khavraen and I took our father aside, and I said almost in a whisper, βThere are intruders on our land.β
βIt is true, father,β spoke Khavraen. βThey have been destroying and using the valley as they would have their own.β
Thudding hooves could be heard among the distant hills. Deep reverberating roars filled the air with unnatural menace and power. Shadowed beings appeared over the rebirth of sunrise, Pounding across the mossy plain. The dawning sky Made them appear more fearful and majestic to those around them as they came nearer their destination. To gaze in a trance of disbelief and wonder as the messengers galloped towards them, the newcomers did. Furthermore, the ferocious horde made a nightmarish scorch mark in ones memory, never to become UN-existent. Too powerful and mighty for the curse of eternal breath.
