The apocalypse hit us hard. Zombies tore the ground apart and grabbed at the heavens. I was with my (ex-) girlfriend Mandy when the zombies appeared. We panicked and hid in her house, boarding up the windows and barricading the exits. After securing the house, we decided to rest and that’s when I remembered what we were doing before the apocalypse.
My relationship with Mandy is… a little shaky. Before the apocalypse hit us, we were arguing. She found out that I cheated on her with another girl, whom I was dating for two weeks previous to today. Mandy found out and flipped, throwing me out of the house. I tried to reconcile with her but to no effect. She decided that I was a sick bastard and wouldn’t take me back no matter how much I begged her. Which I would never do. Mandy started getting heated and swung at me. I didn’t hit her back, obviously, but she did try to hurt me. That’s when our fight was interrupted by the undead, roaring and swinging at us.
Day one of the apocalypse came and went. Mandy ignored me and wouldn’t listen to what I was saying. I tried to help her by gathering water from the faucet, but she kicked the bucket with the water over. I then chose to keep to myself if she didn’t want to play nice.
“Increase the volume of the prepared screams,” A man dressed in a cloak told a group of scientists. “Do it now!” he ordered. The scientists followed his order and turned a hand crank to increase a valve labeled ‘Screams.’ Another man dressed in casual clothes laughed as he watched Mandy pacing in front of Sam’s room with a kitchen knife. After a while, she returned to her room. Sam continued to write in his notebook about his perspective about the
Days two saw Mandy descending into madness, her anger at Sam for cheating, and symptoms of a mental illness rising. Sam, on the other hand, found a notebook and scribbled the details of day one through his perspective. He wasted most of the second day writing in the notebook and procrastination compared to Mandy who fortified the house and prepared weapons to use. If it is for the zombies or Sam is unclear.
Day three saw the arrival of a type II zombie, a zombie that is significantly stronger than the zombies Mandy and Saw are used to. Type II zombies charged at the door and nearly broke in. Sam, who was taking a nap for the fifth time that day, dashed to find the attic’s opening, which is in Mandy’s room. Mandy grabbed her weapons and fought against the zombies, reigning supreme. After an hour of fighting the zombies back, she found Sam hiding in the attic. She shouted at Sam about his cowardly tactics which fell to deaf ears. She kicked him out of the room and locked the door behind her. Sam, arrogantly, tried to establish a hierarchy with him on top. A small flame growing stronger within Mandy.
Day four started with an argument between a bored and lonesome Sam and an angry and tired Mandy. Mandy shouted in Sam’s face and threatened him with a knife. Sam backed up and scurried away to the room he chose, which used to be Mandy’s brother's room, and scribbled his twisted view on Mandy in his notebook.
Inside of Mandy’s room, Mandy fantasized about slicing Sam’s throat with the knife but calmed herself down. She then left her room and headed over to Sam and informed him about guard duty. Sam pouted as Mandy toppled him with work including guard duty, fortifying the house, and cleaning up the house. All duties that were burdened onto Mandy. Sam agreed, not listening to her, and the two kept their distance for the rest of the day. Sam continued to write in his notebook instead of doing his duties while Mandy had to pick up the slack. The day ended with Sam being on guard duty and Mandy taking a well-needed rest.
On the fifth day, zombies broke into the house through the front door. Sam, who is on guard duty, fell asleep and wasn’t watching when the zombies pounded and tore at the front door and barricades. Sam woke to zombies pouring into the room. Sam jumped at the sight and rushed to Mandy’s room. Unknowingly, Mandy is prepping how to achieve her revenge on Sam. Sam barges into her room and throws himself at her. Mandy springs up and shuts the door shut, barricading it using her cabinet. “What the hell is wrong with you!” She shouted. “How did you let them in?”
Sam opened his mouth, but he couldn’t answer her. She walked up to him and slapped him. The slap left a large red mark on his left cheek. “Do you have your knife?” She asked. He shook his head. She gritted her teeth and shouted. She revealed her knife and started ranting. “You are worthless! Not only did you cheat on me, someone that gave up everything she had for you, but you have the audacity to rely on me. You’re a man! You should have been paying attention, not crying and running with your tail between your legs to force me to help you.”
“I-I’m sorry,” he muttered.
“Sorry isn’t good enough,” She said. She pointed the knife at him. “I’m breaking up with you,” she declared before she plunged her knife into his gut. Sam wheezed from the sudden blow and fell onto the bed. Mandy got on top of him and took the knife out of his gut. She laughed creepily before plunging her knife back into his gut. She repeated the process until the door broke down and the zombies flooded the room. They tore Mandy apart, bit by bit. Sam laid lifelessly as his body was eaten by the undead.
The guy dressed in cloak shared a laugh with the guy dressed in casual clothes. “End the experiment. I’ll prepare the second experiment.” He told the second guy, who is dressed casually. The second guy nodded and grabbed a beer from a server. He gulped the beer down and laughed again, this one seeming menacingly

Ryan invited his friends Lindsay, Alan, and Grace to a haunted house. “You guys ready?” Ryan asked.
“Are you sure it’s a haunted house?” Alan asked.
“Why? Are you scared?” Ryan teased.
“No, I’m just saying,” Alan responded. “Where did you find this?”
“He probably Google’d it,” Lindsay said.
“You... may be right,” Ryan answered with a smirk. He laughed.
“Let’s go already,” Grace said while pushing through Ryan and walking to the house. The house is in shambles, but somehow the walls are still standing. Grace was the first one to enter the house. The others followed in suit. “You guys are a bunch of wimps. There is nothing even here!” exclaimed Grace.
“Let’s get through this already,” Alan said.
“What? You scared?” Grace teased. Ryan laughed while Lindsay giggled.
“Blood! Guts! Blood!” A voice whispered. The four kids stood frozen. The door slam behind them. Lindsay shrieked. “Blood! Guts! Blood!” The words echoed. The words were much clearer now. The voice echoed the words again, this time it wasn’t a whisper. Ryan rushed towards the door trying to unlock it, but to no avail. The door would not open. Alan helped out Ryan with the door, but it wouldn’t move an inch.
“Why is it locked?” Grace asked.
“I don’t know!” Ryan told her.
“Don’t tell me this is an actual haunted house!” Grace exclaimed.
“You’re not messing with us right?” Lindsay asked scared out of her mind.
“I’m not!” Ryan shouted. Ryan and Alan were both tugging at the door and screaming for help.
“Blood! Guts! Blood!” The words echoed again. The boys are busy trying to open the door and Lindsay is crying in a corner to notice Grace’s disappearance. Lindsay---through her tears--- noticed that Grace was nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s Grace?” Lindsay asked. Ryan and Alan turned around to notice her disappearance.
“Blood! Guts! Blood!”
The words ricocheted off the walls along with Grace’s scream. “Help!” Grace screamed.
“We have to help her!” Ryan said. He followed Grace’s screams with Alan in tow. Lindsay didn’t follow them nor would she be alive the next time they meet.
Grace screamed in fear as she was being carried by a humongous man wearing a black hood and carrying an ax. She continued screaming but stopped after she felt pain in her left shoulder. She looked over slowly and saw a knife sticking out of her shoulder. The axman threw Grace onto a mattress and left the room. Grace stared in shock as she watched her captor leave the room.
The haunted house has grey walls and a confusing amount of hallways similar to that of a maze. Grace was carried through three hallways and landed at a room in the back corner of a large hallway. The twisting hallways seemed to have shifted as every time Grace looked at the hallway it seemed different. The axman disappeared into the darkness and didn’t come back for Grace.
Grace waited a minute before leaving the room. No way, I’m staying here, She thought. She rushed into the hallways without a plan. She rushed into the confusing hallways. “He-” She started. She didn’t want to attract the attention of the axman. She continued into the hallways searching for her friends. Not noticing that somebody was following her.
Ryan and Alan couldn’t hear Grace’s screams anymore. With the worst in mind, the two rushed to find Grace. “Yo, Ryan I don’t think we can find her!” Alan said.
“So what should we do then? Huh?” Ryan shouted.
“I don’t know! For all, we know she could be dead!” Alan exclaimed.
“Don’t say that!” Ryan said while gripping Alan’s collar. “Dude! Never say that!” He stared at Alan in the eyes and kept eye contact with him as a whistling sound started up. Ryan broke the eye contact and stared into the darkness to see an ax on the floor. He let go of Alan and whispered “Run when I say” to him. Alan nodded. The ax was then picked up by a familiar hand. The hand was surprisingly scrawny and has a couple of marks on it. Ryan also noticed a familiar tattoo. It was a butterfly tattoo that Lindsay had on her right arm. “Lindsay?” Ryan muttered. Alan stared in shock as he also noticed the tattoo. The figure stepped out from the abyss to reveal
