My name is Neville Cancer. Like so many others before me I have a story to tell. Although mine has a more menecing twist. It all started back on my seventh birthday. My father had rented a bouncy house for all the children to have fun in, while my mother got the cake. Well one thing led to another and me and another one of my freinds got into an argument about who should get the biggest peice of cake. We bumped into the table during our spiked discussion and one of the knifes, set there for cutting the cake, went into the air. We looked at it for less than a second before he dove out of the way but I just stood there and watched it fall. The last thing I remember was the knife entering the left side of my skull. When I awoke everyone was staring at me in disbeleif. " How are you alive" one my freinds asked, shocked as though he had seen a ghost. After 10 tests to completely make sure I was okay, we were on our way home when I was told. As soon as I got to the amergency room I started glowing a dark green color and my body was floating. Everyone then heard a deep and dangerous voice say "NOT YET CHILD YOUR DESTINY IS TOO IMPORTANT TO DIE FROM A SILLY NICK IN YOUR HEAD!!!!" then the glowing got stronger and blackened the room. They heard me screming out in pain but could'nt move or see. After about two minutes the room brightened up again and there I was wraped in greenery and a black sword wraped in very dark green silk. And the vibe it gave off would've frightened the bravest of men.

Chapter One ~ The Awakening

-10 years later-

I awoke with a start wondering for a moment where I was. Then I remembered when I suddenly smelled the pinewood smoke. I was in my grandfather's lodge.

" Neville come down for breakfast it's your favorite bacon with a side of cheesy scrambled eggs!"

" One Minute Grandpa i'll  be there in uno momento!" I yelled downstairs.

I got up out of bed groaning when I felt my arms and legs rufuse to cooperate. Once I got  out of bed I walked to the mirror on my bedroom wall. The creature who stared back at me was a mess: with green eyes,  and a tangled mess of brown hair. I sighed and looked for my toothbrush and comb knowing full well that if I was not looking presentable I would be going for a little trip to a barber without my Mp3 player.

When I finished I raced downstairs as hungry as an elephant during the dry season.

Once finished with breakfast I ventured out with my trusted sword Fang, the longsword I've had since I was seven, and head into the forest to train. Ever since that day I've heard this voice in my head telling me to help him, Although I don't know who he is or where to look to find him it's always felt as though it was my duty to do so. After hours of training I spoted the most beutiful elk I had ever laid my eyes on. It looked at me with innocent green eyes the same color as mine in fact. It walked near me , smelled me, then turned around and motioned for m eto follow. I followed it until we found a bubbling spring in the center of the woods. I was feeling exhausted so I drank from the spring. As soon as I drank from the water I felt rejuvenated as though I had just awoken from a restful night. I stood and gasped I wasn't in the forest anymore. Hell I didn't think I was on earth anyomore. What I was standing on was no more than a giant pile of moss covered rubble. I looked around frantic for anything of home when There I saw it. My Mother and Father's grave.

"Hell" I said aloud, disbeleif in my voice, " I'm here, I haven't been here in 9 years. This is Vetal's Tomb the tomb of all the nightwalkers that my familly has produced over the centuries.." I walked twords the coffin remembering how it happened how they gave their lives to preserve mine.

" You little pup have you come back to play ?"

" Shut up bastard why would I know why I came back here  I swore to stay away." I said turning around to see a black robed figure silently walking towards me. The figure stopped short about a yard from me and whispered, " Have you figureed it out yet do you know why your gaudrian siant gave you his personal sword?"

"You have yet to tell me who my gaurdian saint is!" I yell agitated " Who is he and why am I here why did you bring me back here."

" I will show you follow me." he said turning around and ,not waiting for me to respond, walked away. As I followed him he told me how the curse's hold has gotten stronger on the entity that saved me so long ago. We walked under broken archways, up rooten stonework stairs, and through decayed eating halls to find an enourmes statue. . It was of a man with long, flowing, dark robes. Around his head was crown made purely of ebony. And a crop of neatley trimmed hair.As I gazed upon the majestic statue the robed figure gave a chuckle.

" You really don't remember what happened when I gave you that brand.?"

" No the only thing I remember was the pain" I said as I gave him a remoursful look" Only the pain I felt upon looking at him." Suddenly the figure grabbed me by the shoulders and shook me whispering in my ear urgently, " You must remember if you don't we are all doomed!" After he calmed down he told me to stay here. Maybe if left in the prescence of his place of worship he could be able to awaken the power that slept within me. So there i stood, sat , slept for hours and hours I stayed there waiting for something. Just as I was about to get up and walk around I felt my heart skip a beat. I froze something was holding me still. a voice whispered inmy head.

" You are the one, the one that will free me."

" Who are you?" I whisper sweat pouring off me in sheets.

" Go to the place where it all began, to find the answer to end it all." he whisper in response then begins to laugh maniacally.

" Are you afraid lttle cub, does the scent of fear prickle through your skin." the entity mocked " Good you'll need fear  if you are to overcome what lie ahead. Train with Gavrant he will teach you how to control your fear little cub." And with that I collapsed from shear force of the voice in my head. After my breathing calms down and I could see normal I looked around making sure no one was around, curled up in a ball and wept like a newborn.

Chapter 2- Transformation

-The Next Morning-

As I woke up I looked around to see that I was back at the spring near my grandfather's lodge. But somehow it didn't feel right. I looked around and suddenly it hit me the sudden stench filled my nostrils. Tears filled my eyes as I searched for the source of the the horrible smell. As I approached my grandfather's lodge the stench got stronger, like a skunk had died then left there to rot. As I neared the cottage I saw a dark shadow in the window of my grandfather's room. I wondered who it was while I walked to the  room but when I neared it I heard arguing so I crept to the room quietly.

" Neville is not ready how can you not see it Gavrant ?"

" How is he not do you not see him in YOUR woods practicing until exhaustion and then some. Vard if he were not ready I would be here you understand that more than anyone." He shot at the old man.

" He is still a boy he is not ready that is final!" Vard shouted " Out now!" he said pointing his finger at the door.

" Fine i'll leave but let me test him first." Vard began to look at him with a suspicous eye.

" How will you test him Gavrant."

" Thats for me to know " he said with an evasive smile.

As he walked out of the room he passed Neville and whispered to him " If you wish to know what happened to your parents meet me by the oak in the center of forest.

Before he had a chance to react Gavrant had already gone out the door.

"My parents.....my parents are dead nothing else could have happened to them right." Neville's brain racked at what Gavrant had said he already knew what happened to them they died so he could live. While he was thinking Vard stepped into the room.

" You want to go dont you?" Neville looked up in suprise as his grandfather sat in the chair across from him. "I won't stop you if you truly want to but i must know of you are ready" he said with a somber look on his face." go.... go take his tet and if you suceed then i will not hod from leaving but if he has to go easy on you just for you to survive hen you stay with me do you understand."

"Yes"

"Good then go" Vard said with a smile creeping across his withered face.

When Neville left that evening he noticed that the stench that had been looming aroud the lodge before had dissapeared. The trail that Gavrant took was expertly obscured so it was around midnight by the time Neville found which way he had gone.
