saw Angelica’s appearance, already being prepped by Sister Marie. “Angelica will sit across from Tasu.” She beckoned Angelica closer, pointing out her seat. Tasu sat across from her at a five-desk table. A beastkin child sat next to her while a female elf sat next to Tasu. A human child sat at the fifth desk, which was positioned facing the teacher instead of towards another desk like the other desks were.

Angelica looked down at her assignment waiting for her. It was a simple writing assignment, asking her to tell a story.

The beastkin child that sat next to her, looked at Angelica with curiosity before whispering “hi” to her.

She responded with a weakly “hi”, uncomfortable with talking with him. Unlike Tasu, she didn’t know him. He could be like the orphans that attacked her for all she knew.

She faced away from him, hoping to end the already short conversation, but her motion aggravated the child. He demanded a better response from her but she blew him off by ignoring him. Angelica wasn't very social and was afraid of her identity being revealed and being bullied for it. However, the child didn’t know why she didn’t want to talk, instead, acting on his emotions. Driven by attention, it irritated whenever people ignored him. He raised his voice, interrupting Sister Alecia’s lessons.

“Hey! Listen to me!” He shouted. Angelica glanced at him before looking away. She avoided eye contact with everybody. “Listen to me!” He repeated. Tasu stood up and eyed the beastkin orphan. The beastkin orphan didn’t back down, prepared for a fight. “She doesn’t want to listen to me!” He whined. “Why not?”

Episode Forty Nine "Creation S1 E8 - Evolution / Demon Rose"

Max’s fur had shifted from its normal colors to that of the Venom Spiders. Max’s head and back were black while his belly was a dark green. He looked different, but Ex could tell he was the same Max as usual.

“How did this happen?” Ex asked himself, staring at Max’s new coat. Max showed off his coat, strolling around the room like a model. Ex shook his head while smiling as he watched Max prance around. “I’ve seen too much to be surprised by this.” He stood up, brandishing his LRC.

“Maybe If I… His voice trailed off as he lowered his hand. He threw the LRC back into his pocket. She’s probably busy. I don’t want to burden her. I should go and ask around at the receptionist’s desk.

“Come!” Ex said, going to the door. Max followed after him as he walked down the stairs to the ground floor, reaching the receptionist's desk.

“Oh, it’s you!” A familiar voice asked. It was Torina’s daughter, Azlin, a beautiful pale-skinned redhead.

“Woah!” She noticed Max’s new coat.

“Uh…” He looked down at Max. “Do you know why this happened?”

Torina popped her head in from the dining hall. She noticed Max’s change in fur instantly. “Oh, he went through an evolution.” She remarked, pointing at his coat.

“What do you mean? An evolution?” Ex asked.

Torina stared at him strangely. “You’re a tamer who has never heard about evolution?” She questioned.

Oh, I messed up. Now she doubts me. Wait… I never said I was a tamer. Maybe I could…

“Well… I’m a magic user, not a tamer. It’s a second… skill I have.” His sentence sounded choppy, his bad lies being apparent.

“A magician?” Azlin questioned, tilting her head.

“Yeah, I’m a magician,” Ex said.

“Oh… Okay.” Torina wasn’t sure about him, sensing his lies. “Well, evolutions are what we call a tamer’s beast that changes form. These evolutions happen via a coat change like your beast or through new limbs and skills. Some evolutions are temporary like an Elemental Feline’s Darkness Mode or a Diamondrock’s Half-Stage Evolution.”

“Wait? This-” He pointed at Max's coat. “-is temporary?”

Torina nodded her head. “Think of it as painting over the initial color of a wall. When that paint fades and cracks, the color hiding behind it explodes out.”

“So Max is having a Half-Stage Evolution and the Venom Spiders we faced yesterday did this to him?”

“Yes, most Diamondrock tamers I’ve seen go to the Venom Spiders to have their beasts go into their Half-Stage Evolution. Their beasts are invincible against low-level poison and are stronger than the normal Diamondrock. However, it only lasts for two days before it reverts to normal.”

Ex nodded, glancing at Max’s coat. “So by him being near the spiders he underwent an evolution?”

Azlin shook her head, jumping into the conversation. “He needs to inhale venom to change. Just being near a monster won’t change Max so easily. However, he can’t inhale too much venom or he’ll die.” She warned.

“She’s right. Inhaling too much of a substance, be it poison, water, fire, and they die.”

“Max can change into fire and water as well?” Ex’s eyes were widened, fascinated by the aspects of having Max turned into a Fire Diamondrock Wolf or a Water Diamondrock Wolf

Torina nodded her head, turning away from him. “Diamondrock Wolves are one of the few beasts that do this. They can evolve into almost anything as long as they inhale it through their noses or mouths, so be wary of what your beast eats. Well, I have duties to complete, so goodbye.” She walked away from Ex, attending to a customer.

“Thanks.” He told them before turning around, exiting the inn. Max followed after him, both strolling towards the guild. However, their stroll was interrupted by Brooklyn who had returned from completing a quest. It had been a few hours since they departed.

“Hey!” She waved at him. “Headed to the guild?”

Ex nodded. “Yeah.”

“What about taking this quest.” Brooklyn flashed a rank E quest in front of him, detailing a subjugation of goblins. “It’s some easy money, especially with me. Think of it as an apology to Max.”

Ex glanced at Max before the quest. “Uh… sure.”

“Perfect!” She exclaimed, smiling. “Let’s go now!”

“Now?” He asked, furrowing his eyebrows. “Can we-”

“Nope, we don’t have time to waste. This quest expires in a few hours!” She grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the city. He picked himself up, walking from the city’s gates to the forest on his own. Max sprinted next to them, keeping up with Brooklyn’s quick pace. Ex was running out of breath by the time they reached the goblins’ cave.

Once there, Brooklyn popped her head into the dimly lit cave, torches from past adventures lighting up sections of it. She brought her head out of the cave, looking around. Something caught her eyes, focusing on it. It was a rose, but the colors were off. “I’ve never seen this before. It has the shape of a rose, but lacks its color.”

Ex approached the rose, amazed at the sleek black and red color it had. “I… I don’t know what it is. Never seen it. Demon Rose maybe?”

“I’ve seen illustrations and heard stories about it, but I’ve never seen one in person. Demon Roses are said to be normal roses tainted by demonic energy.” She looked around quickly, searching her surroundings. “We need to leave!”

“Why?” Ex asked, not piecing the puzzle together.

“There’s a demon nearby, its energy tainted the rose. We need-” Brooklyn stopped, her eyes fixated on something behind Ex. Max began growling, creeping Ex out more. He turned around, faced with a demonic being.

“Well, I was found out quicker than I believed.” It was a demon woman that stood behind them, dressed in a thick set of armor that snugged her body tightly. She had a medieval helmet on that didn’t allow any of them to see her eyes.

“It seems like you’ll have to die here for my plans. I apologize for that.” She smiled maliciously. “Goodnight humans.”

Episode Fifty "Second Chance S1 E3 - You Are Going To Hell, Holocene"

Kiran returned to Holocene and Toraku’s apartment a few days later, during the night, with a scheme in mind. He was seething with ideas, now formulating a plan that would fulfill his revenge and allow him to leave the mortal realm. He was on borrowed time, anyway.

With some help from Vulcan, he learned about an air duct that crossed into the room they were staying in. It was perfect, almost too perfect for him.

Entering through an entrance on the roof, Kiran jumped into the air duct that barely fit him. He squeezed himself and Dragonripper through the tight air duct, shimming through it.

He crawled through the air ducts, remembering a rough path to Holocene and Toraku’s apartment, getting lost a few times before, eventually, reaching it. He found a grate that looked down into the kitchen, allowing him to oversee the couple talking.

I’m so close… I could… jump down and kill them both right now. I’ll leave this world after that, so who cares about fingerprints. Right? Right…? His thoughts overlapped with the ongoing conversation, shutting them off to hear anything that would assist his plans.

“What happened? You usually never ask me those questions.” Toraku asked, barely appearing in Kiran’s sight. “We were talking about one thing and you suddenly threw something else in.”

Holocene nodded. She filled Kiran’s sight in two ways; through the grate and her mind. I don’t still have… feelings for her? No, that’s stupid! She’s the one that got me killed! I lost my life! MY LIFE!

“I’m sorry babe, but… I really do need a big favor. However, I understand if you don’t want to do it.” She turned her body ninety degrees, a manipulative tactic that she used very often. Kiran nearly spat on her from the air duct, but it would rob him of his revenge. If they knew he still existed, everything would be for naught.

“What is it? Is it something important?” He entered Kiran’s sight, disgusting him with his behavior of a dog. Toraku was the dog and Holocene was the owner.

“There was… some guys...” Holocene started, seeing Toraku already ticked off. He already knew what she was going to say. “... they were harassing me.”

Toraku shook his head violently. “How dare they try to talk to my woman!” He shouted. “Don’t worry babe-” He slammed his fist on his chest, mimicking a gorilla. “-I’ll deal with them.” He said with a malicious smile. Holocene nodded, shedding a fake tear.

“Thank you, babe,” Holocene said in a cutesy voice, another tactic to rile Toraku up.

“Where were they?” Toraku asked her, glancing around for something to use as a weapon.

“They harassed me-” She emphasized the word ‘harassed’. “-at the gas station we passed earlier. It was the cashier and the attendant, I think. But you don’t have to go overboard.” She hung her
