Ch1 (Undone) - Signs of Living Things

 

The study of living things is called biology.


      A living thing is called an organism.

 

 

 

 

There are 9 signs of life / characteristics of living things.

 

- A living thing is [1]highly organized and have [2]complex chemical substances.
ie. [1.] All living things are made of cells : the smallest fundamental unit of structure and function in living organism.[2.] The carbon cycle is known as the constant circulation of carbon in organism through the biosphere.

 

 

 

 

- A Living things are made of [1] one or [2] more cells.
ie. Cells carry life activities within a [1] single-cell-ed organism like a bacterium or [2]many cell-ed organisms like people and animals. They can be between 1 and 10 microimeters in diameter.

 

 

 

 

- A Living things use energy.
ie. For energy, a living thing can either make their own food (plants) or include outside methods to make their food (non-plant organism).

 

 

 

 

- A living thing have a definite form and limited size.
ie. although living things don't all look alike, they have some things in common. And they have some features that may help to distinguish them fro other organisms. Nonliving things such as stone, sand, water, and wood do not have a a definite shape and size.

 

 

 

 

- Living things have a limited lifespan.
ie.
