Reflective essay
I danced around the house bursting with joy; I would be to my fist cosplay meet in just over a week! I just about tore my room apart trying to put my costume together and started panicking when I realized that I didn’t have everything I needed, thankfully my panic was short lived. My parents needed to go into town the next day and they said that they would be happy to get me the stuff I needed. I then spent ages on the internet trying to find the patterns for the face that I would need to stitch on to a hoodie. After about three cups of tea and two pot noodles I finally found what I was looking for. I rushed up stairs to find the right materials and came down a few minutes later with an old red skirt and some white cloth. I was all for getting out my scissors and hacking the skirt to pieces but it was getting late and my parents wanted me to get up preferably before one β€˜o’clock in the afternoon. I did get up before one the next day but was unable to use my scissors because most of the day was spent packing and the day after that we were all pilled in a car for the long drive down to Hagerston castle. Where I was finally able to decorate my jumper turning it in to a matryoshka hoodie. One week later I was laying out my clothes and checking my bag to make sure I had everything for the twentieth time. The next day I woke up and rushed down stair to check the time before rushing back up to get changed. About an hour later had gotten off the bus and was standing at my best friend’s front door. The next thirty minutes were spent adding last touches to make up and costumes, Ciel as Crona from Soul Eater, Grell as Alice from Alice in Wonderland and me as matryoshka Meiko. We then caught a bus before meeting up with William and waiting five minute for the train which would take us into central station to meet up with the rest of the cosplay group. We spent a good hour and a half just messing about and chasing pigeons and then everyone realized it would be a lot more fun to chase me. It was then decided by the organizers that we should start heading up the high street in the direction of the park. We made a small detour because a lot of the group wished to go in to forbidden planet, on our way there we passed by a statue that we had never seen before. Only on the return journey did we realize it was actually a person. He had jumped down of his podium and had a cigarette hanging out the side of his mouth, removing it long enough to call us freaks; there were instant retorts like β€œthe cheek of it!”and β€œtake a look in the mirror mate” just to name a few. We soon arrived at the fair and Ciel and I made a bee line for the rides. I was absolutely terrified the moment I got on and screamed just about the whole time we were on it. Everyone else of course though this was hilarious. Our time at the fair was cut short the rain and we ended up sitting outside Hameley’s eating McDonalds. The day ended much too soon for me. And with a heavy heart I headed for home. The next day was spent wishing that time would repeat itself. They’re the kind of people you can just be yourself around and that what really made it special for me.
