I drove around back of the coffee shop. I had named this place because it was far from my new home. I was looking for a secluded place to park. If I had to make a quick getaway I needed to be sure my βDateβ would not know my car.
I arrived 20 minutes early. Going inside I looked For a booth close to the back door. I even slipped the waiter a five to let me use the backdoor if needed. He handed it back and said βNo problem.β Nice guy, to bad he was just a kid. So there I sat waiting for this guy who answered my personal ad. What was I thinking? I sipped my Iced tea and waited for what I hoped was a good thing.
How in the hell did I let myself get into this mess? I promised myself the last time when I met βFur Manβ that I would not go on a blind date again. I donβ t remember his name but I sure remember him. I thought he had glued a hairy rug to his chest and back. He constantly refered to his Ex's sexual preferences. I don't know about you but sex while Indiana Jones looks for the Holy Grail with Sean Connery is not a turn on ast least for me. I have secret thoughts of meeting Mr. Connery. That was a light bulb over the head for me. But here I am again. Guess it was like an addiction. Divorced, lonely and wanting to be desired .
There I sat Nervous and caffing at the sweater I had picked to wear that was now making me Itch. I sipped at the Iced Tea beacuse I love the smell of coffee but not the taste. facing the door I waited. The door opened and He stepped in. I tried hard not to stare. The best way to describe him wasβ Son of Hitlerβ. He was short, had that boxy mustache and the Hitler style comb over. Not to mention his see thru black tank top. The shirt well it would be O K if it was hot outside but it was late autumn in Wisconsin and the tempeture was about forty-five degrees outside. And he topped off his style with a heavy hip hop chain. Yeah I wanted a date but not That bad.
βHi Arvin?β
β Yes sir. Thatβs me.β I knew that this would end badly. Exit stage left. But I tried to get to know him. He talked and talked and talked all about himself and his job at the paint factory. He asked if I wanted to go someplace else to talk. I excused myself saying that I needed to use the ladies room. Then I asked the waiter to pour a second cup of coffee for my βDateβ paid for it and ran not walked through the backdoor. I sat in the drivers seat. Placed my head on the steering wheel and then checked to make sure there was no one outside. I drove off wondering why I was willing to humiliate myself. Since there was no voice answering back I again promised my self no more blind dates from the personals. But I guess That was one promise I couldnβt keep. Cause thatβs where I met my Husband of sixteen years. It seems seven is my lucky number.
