Prologue
I look up as Sapphira enters m chambers. "He calls for you. Hurry, you mustn't keep him waiting." With that, she bows her head and backs out of the room. Odd. She usually smiles when coming to see me... I'm not sure I'm not liking the sound of this...
I stand up and smooth my now rumpled shirt. I walk down the long narrow tunnel to the largest cave in Underworld. I stop short of the steps leading to the throne Hades occupies and fall to my knees. "Lord Hades," I say, "I willingly present myself to thee."
"Dark Angel, Kieren," Hades whispers. He needn't ever speak higher than that. "I should have two children in the mortal world. If they have yet to come, continue searching. From this point on you are banished from Underworld until the day you successfully bring them home. Leave, and don't comeback without them."
I cry out in pain as he speaks the last words. My black, silky feathered with raise up, towering above my head and I take flight, racing through tunnel after tunnel until I burst from the entrance hidden from mortal eyes. I lay shivering on the solid earth until the pain subdues.
I stand and fold my wings against my back. Humans can't see them and Nephilim can only see them if allowed. Flying would attract too much attention to myself. I know this is the beginning of a long and painful journey. Hades's words still ring in my ears.
'I should have two children in the mortal world. If they have yet to come, continue searching. From this point on you are banished from Underworld until the day you successfully bring them home. Leave, and don't comeback without them'
5,000 Years Later
Fire. That's all I can see. That and the figure of a person. A man. There is something behind him. I can't tell what it is, if it is anything at all.
I'm suddenly cold. I look down and see that I am falling. The fire is towering above me and I hear someone scream and see them crumple, heading straight for me.
I bolt up, gasping. I'm sweating and the comforter is crumpled around my legs. I look around, relieved to see the familiar shapes of my room. There is a knock at my door before Michael, my twin brother, opens it.
"You okay?" He asks. "I heard you scream. Same dream as before?" He sits on the edge of my bed and I sigh. He's right. For the past year I've been having the same dream over and over. It's not consecutive but it always comes back.
"Yeah." I whisper, hoping I don't wake Mom and Dad. "I'm fine, okay? Go back to bed. We all know you need the sleep."
He Smiles and wraps his arms around me. I wrap my own around him and hold on for dear life. When I let go he smiles and rumples my hair before returning to his own room across the hall.

I walk into first block English and take my usual seat in the back setting my books on the always empty desk beside me. No one notices which is normal. Why would they? I'm not like them. I do all of my work and study hard for tests. I've never been in any kind of trouble. I don't like to take risks and I have an over protective twin brother that I love to death.
Mrs. Hester smiles as she enters the room followed by a guy dressed completely in white. Even his hair is white though his bangs, which cover his eyes, are an ebony.
The whispers spread like wild fire around the room. It's mainly the girls doing the whispering. The guys are sizing him up though it is evident he doesn't give a damn. "Alright class, we have a new student today." Mrs. Hester turns to the boy. "Please introduce yourself."
"Kieren," He says, his voice rich like honey and melted chocolate. Though I can't see his eyes, I feel like he's staring at me when he says it. a shiver passes along my spine and one corner of his mouth quirks up into a half smile.
"Take a seat wherever you like."
He moves down the aisle toward me. He stops when he reaches it and asks, "Mind if I sit here?"
I just stare at him unable to talk. All of the desks are set into pairs for when we's give joint assignments. This Kieren guy asking to sit with me is like uncharted waters. I've always done work on my own.
"Well?" He demands. I nod stiffly and remove my books, sliding as far away from his desk as mine will allow. Even then I'm sitting with half my butt hanging off the chair because for some reason--and I don't know why--Kieren scares me.I focus on the lesson as Mrs. Hester begins.
I recognize her immediately.I don't know how exactly but I know she the one I've been searching for all these years. These 5,000 years in hope I'll be allowed back in. I'll be allowed back home. Now all I have to do is get her to trust me enough and find the other.
I introduce myself--smiling and staring at the girl--as the teacher, Mrs. Hester, instructs me to ad make my way to her. To the unoccupied seat beside to be more specific. I ignore the comments from the girls I pass. "Mind if I sit here?" I ask.
She stares at me dumbfounded. You'd have thought she's never seen another person in her life. "Well?" I ask and this time she nods. She seems scared to do so. Very unlike the others in the room.
She scoots as far away from me as she possible can and focuses all of her attention on the lesson. I've heard it thousands of times and the only thing it's done is gotten farther and farther from the truth.
Take a religion class for example. The Romans and Greek have multiple Gods. The Christians, Jews, and Muslims have one main God. Then there's Krishna, Vishnu, Buddha and all the other deities with the Hindus. Really they're all the same. The Romans just gave the Greek Gods different names. Christians, Jews, and Muslims just pray to one God though they don't realize they're praying to them all. It's pretty much the same with all religions.
Now, how do I get her to trust me? She's too shy to just talk to outright though she seems to take her schooling seriously. This is going to be much harder than I thought now that I've found her. She's nothing like Hades. He's a commanding leader whereas she's a quiet follower. He's got the darkest tan you could see and she's pale white. I'm starting to wonder what her sibling looks like.

The bell rings and I hurry to gather my books and rush out of the room but he stays by my side, a silent and unwanted companion. I have to stop by my locker but at this point I might actually just skip doing that and go ahead to my next class. The good student won though.
I stop in front of my locker and quickly put in the combination. Kieren leans against the locker next to me. My frustration is rising at an increasingly constant rate and I'm contemplating how much trouble I'd be in for knocking him over the head with a textbook.
"It wouldn't do much good." He says as if reading my mind. I gently put the book in my back down and turn towards him.
"What in the hell do you want? I don't know you and you don't know me. If you're planning on becoming like and other stupid male student at this school and play nice until your chance to take advantage of and humiliate the quiet girl, you can give up now. I'm-" I cut off. I start feeling the usual rise in temperature I always do when any of my emotions related in the least to anger bubbles over.
I turn back to my locker and grab what I need before running to my next class. I'm relieved when he doesn't follow though I'm almost positive he said something.
