My brother and I were laughing, after all the sun was shining and the sand was warm. My brother looked up at me and smiled his toothy smile. Suddenly his teeth started growing longer, thicker and sharp. He hissed and lunged at me, we wrestled as the sky grew dark and the trees turned black and withered. The waves crashed against the cliff and the wind howled in our ears, but my dear brother was only after one thing… my flesh. I woke up and gasped. I get up and glance around, checking for a slightly open door, or a broken window, instincts telling me me something was close and probably not human. I reach down under the bunk bed for my blue katana, and quietly yank the musty covers off of me. I slowly slide off the bed waiting for my eyes to addjust. something moves in the corner on my eyes. I jerk away and throw the blanket over it to confuse it. The monster hisses and wrenches it off and gives off a brutal roar slashing at where I stood. At least, where I stood a half second ago. I had done a back flip off its shoulders and kicked it between the shoulder blades and fliped my body through the window, smashing it and sending me hurtling down. Hmm…bad idea Hydra, now were going to die after falling 9 stories up.
I look around so quickly I almost didn’t see the pole flying towards my face. My hands fly out and catch the pole, wrenching my arms out of their sockets. I have to struggle not to scream and let go from the pain ricocheting through my body. I swing forwards smashing though another window and rolled into a room…full of zombies. Shizzles. I run through their “munching hoard” and kick open the door with both feet (sense both of my arms have desired to momentarily stop working) and run at full speed with (I’m estimating) 50 zoms wishing to feast on my bone marrow and whatever comes attached with it. I dash out of the run over hotel and jump into the river, praying the zombie’s wont fallow me. I hit the turning water and go under. when my head bobbs back over the water, I look back; the zombies are staying a foot away from the water all hissing, moaning, roaring, and screaming. A chill runs down my spine as I realize almost every part of the banks were covered with dead people... I might have pissed off much more than just 50 zoms. No forget that, more like a thousand. I spit out dirty water and sigh. I see a floating rotting log and swim over to it. I pull it closer and wince at the barks texture. i sigh again and drift to sleep to the sounds of the dead and the river.
I wake up to my arms hurting even more than earlier and then shoot up in panic thinking zombies could have found me and then…what? Could’ve what? You would have felt it if they bit you…idiot. I groan and make myself get up (barely) and shuffle forward out of the water, leaving my new log companian on the ground. I look around trying to find a good place to hide for the night. I hear a faint yelling sound on the other side of the trees, and I creep forward and look through the bushes to see many men with whips shouting at people chained up together. I stare in disbelief and total shock. Slaves?? Where do they get the time to organise that kind of crap when zombies are trying to eat you? Suddenly I feel cold metal pressed against my head and someone leans forward to whisper in my ears. His whispers chill my already cold skin. “Get up.” I got up. “Hands up.” My hands went up… “Now come with me-”
My hand had grabbed my katana that I had put on the ground and slashed at him faster than the bullet he sent flying towards me. He stares paralyzed as my blade cuts though his chest and slides up, like butter. I heard a rustle and look over to see 6 men all with whips pointed at me. I laugh. 1 slice. 1 cut. 1 chop. 1 slash. 1 blade twirl. 1 beheading. 1 lunge. 1 spin kick then cut. 2 ankles cut and throat slice. 1 roar and 3 cuts to his chest and 1 more beheading. I breathe hard and look around for more. 10 more men had surrounded me. All are quivering slightly in fear except one. The man has grey and black peppered hair (possibly 37 years old), rough stubble on his jaw, around 6ft tall and well built. He stares into my eyes without expression and then after a split second reconition and shock flashes in his eyes… do I know him?
Another man shows up with a pistol, and the men wrap the whips around my wrists. The man with the pistol shoves the gun in my face, yanks the katana out of my hands and throws it at the pepper haired man. “Did she kill all of these men?” A different man shuffles over and says nervously “Uh, sir, sh-she, um, she killed them in less than 40 seconds, I uh, barely saw her when I ran over…sir!” The pistol man glared at him and then looked at me with a death threat in his eyes. “Dane, what do you think we should do with her?” Pepper hair- no, Dane, studies me. “As much as people here want to kill her for what she did, if we kill her now we will lose a great fortune later. She could be broken and turned into a bodyguard.” The pistol holder thinks about it thoughtfully. “Maybe. Fine, we’ll keep her, but put her in heavy chains. Not leather. Anyone try to fool around with her better be prepared to feel my whip.” He walks away towards the other prisoners, and I feel them put chains on my wrists, ankles, and neck. A deep loathing blooms in my chest as I feel my freedom flee and death come closer.
2 years later.
I run across the ally, my feet barely brushing the floor as I sneak behind my prey. It’s eating a dog… or what used to be one. The things teeth crunch on the bones and gristle. I move even closer, and it stopped eating and starts sniffing the air. I freeze as it starts putting down its food-Wham!!! Another zombie tackled the other and now they both where fighting over the dog. I dart past and scale up the wall and spring over and land...into a group of big zombies.
I freeze as they all turn and look at me with their blank eyes and bloody rotting teeth. They moan and start forward towards me... first a walk. Then a stumbling trot. Then, into the dreaded snarling, massive, wave of hands and teeth, all wanting to rip and shred at your flesh; to taste the blood and warm skin being mashed between their teeth. Just as I feel their teeth rake across my body, I fall into the earth.
I wake up soaked with sweat and paralyzed. Slowly my muscles relax slightly so I can move, but still highly strung. I slowly get up trying not to have my chains make a sound, and look around the room. My captors are still asleep and I feel fed up with this helpless feeling they caused. My hatred starts to rise like any other day, but unlike usual, im not able to calm it. My lips pull back from my teeth as a snarl and I’m just about to swing my chains around and smash one guys head in when I hear someone move. They yawn loudly and start to get up. My heart leaps and I collapse on my rag bed and pull it over me, hoping they didn’t notice I had been about to snap. With these chains, I have to take them out carefully, or else they'll sworm and I'll die quickly.
I peek from over my rag "blanket" and see Dane getting up. He's the strangest one here. Unlike the others he rarely showed his emotions and only stared at you and pursed his lips if you did something wrong...The only time I saw him angry it was...something else. Some slaver had touched my katana when they were trying to "break" me and was playing with it when Dane walked outside. His face was pure fury... Dane now always carry’s it, and we don’t know where the other person is.
He looked around and we meet eyes. His face shifts to determined, and he walks towards me. My eyes widen me and I pull the rag over my head praying he'll leave...but its no use, I hear his footsteps coming closer. I feel his hands gently grab my arms and he pulls the rag off. He stares into my eyes and I swear he can see my panic there. "Hydra, come with me, quickly and quietly." My legs shake but I fallow him. What does he want? Does he want me for pleasure?! If he does, I'll kill him, I swear!
He stoppes walking and say’s "Hydra, I have been with these people sence i was 30. Although they have killed many and their methods are crule, I belive they have saved more than killed. At least, I believed this untill the leader was replaced with another mad man 4 years ago. The old leader used to hire mercenaries and help people. This new leader had killed the old leader with a small army he grouped togeather and turned the old mersenarys into slaves. The ones that survived his massicure, at least." He sighed and ran his hand through his hair in stress. "The point is, I need your help." He looks at me and says in a quiet, depressed tone. "They killed my wife and child. My little girl was only thirdteen!" His blue eyes harden and now it feels like he’s glaring at death itself...then he softens. He strokes my face softly for a half beat, then just as quickly stops. "My darling Rose looked kinda like you... Please, work with me! I know you hate them just as much as me."
I blink in slight shock and nod slowly. "I will kill with you." my voice is rough and whispery from lack of use. He smiles and it brightened his face, stress and depression all gone. He hands me back my katana. "Here, have this back. No one should go into battle unarmed." I take my katana and trace the blade. Its dull, but will serve its purpose. We both stride back into the room with a new sense of determination. The guards had awaked and were packing up when they saw us. One by one they looked at us and stared. A man in the back looks at us with
