Chapter 1
I peered around in the darkness with keen blue eyes.
I couldn't see anything, but I could sense something in my presence. I took a few careful steps forward without making a sound then stopped.
I stood there, waiting. Waiting for the slightest sound, movement, or scent.
I waited while the wind blew my dark hair over my pale face.
Waiting...waiting...waiting...
Then a shuffle. There was a shuffling in the darkness.
I quickly turned my face towards where the sound was coming from.
I crouched down and got into a position that I could spring from easily. I then saw one.
He had tan skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes.
No one else was with him.
I wondered why he was all alone, but only for a second. That didn't matter. Why he was here didn't matter
I waited there in the darkness until he was right infront of me. I waited until I couldn't stand the smell any longer.
I waited until my meal had handed itself to me on a silver platter.
Chapter 2
"Why did you do that? You know we don't kill humans!" My older brother yelled at me.
I peered down at my shoes.
"I was hungry." I muttered.
"Well, you could have waited until we went hunting again." He told me angrily.
"Animal blood doesn't taste as good." I told him, "It is less filling. Living off animal blood for us is like a human trying to live off tofu!"
"I know...but what if you are caught? Hm? Then what?" He asked.
Kill the policeman. I thought, but decided to stay silent.
"You're right." I muttered.
"Who cares if I am right or not?! The police are already investigating the whole situation!" He yelled at me.
"So? I left no fingerprints. Nothing. It looked like he was attacked by an animal. I won't do it again. End of story." I replied, annoyed.
My brother growled then stalked away.
I looked at the time and noticed I had to hurry if I wanted to make it to school on time.
Chapter 3
I quickly grabbed my bookbag and stalked into the forest behind my house. As soon as I was out of sight from all humans who might be wondering by, I ran like only a vampire can.
I got to school in 30 seconds.
I quietly ran into the school building without anyone noticing.
As I walked down the hall, my quite and almost silent footsteps echoed off the cold white walls. I could hear everything. Every whistle of the chilling wind, every fast flutter of a bird's wing, every steady heartbeat.
I approached my locker and quickly prepared the books I needed for class.
When I was done, I peered at my watch. I still had 10 minutes until the bell would ing to tell everyone to get inside.
I set my books down on the ground and leaned against the hard lockers, thinking about last night in the forest.
A few minutes later, someone came in the door. It was someone I had never seen before. A new kid.
He glared at me as he walked by, as if he knew what I was thinking about a few seconds ago.
He glared at me until he finally entered the front office.
I sniffed the air.
Bleh! Disgusting! Was it possible that anyone's blood could smell that bad?!
No...no it isn't. It isn't possible. I thought to myself.
I sniffed the air again.
Could it be? I thought in horror, This is the smell of a werewolf!
I let out a groan.
Right then, the bell rang.
I quickly scooped up my books and headed to class, dodging everyone in way way with quick, light steps.
I made it to class in half the time it usually takes. The whole hallway was filled with the horrible stench of werewolf.
I sat in my seat at the back of the class and got ready for class.
I then watched the door with sharp eyes, hoping that the werewolf wouldn't be in any of the same classes as me.
Finally, th last person entered and Mr. Brown, the english teacher, closed the door.
A few minutes into class, there was a knock at the door. Mr. Brown answered it and in came Vice Principal Jackson.
After speaking with Mr. Brown for a few moments, Mrs. Jackson motioned to someone who was at the door.
In walked...the werewolf.
"Class! This is Tony Smith." Mr. Brown announced, "As you all know, he is a new student and I want you all to make Tony feel comfortable."
Tony glared at me. I glared back. I knew that we both knew what the other was. I have my own scent...but the scent isn't from blood of coarse...since I don't have any.
Mr. Brown then asked Tony for his schedule. He gave it to him.
"Ah, yes..." Mr. Brown said, "Aright, who has math next?"
I did, but didn't raise my hand. I looked around and saw everyone shaking their heads. No one had it next but me.
"Come on class! At least one of you must have math next!" Mr. Brown exclaimed.
Again, no one's hand went up.
I sighed then raised mine.
Mr. Brown smiled. "Alright Mr. Smith, you will followed Alexandria White to math next period."
I growled under my breath.
"Oh yes, and you will also be sitting by Mrs. White also." Mr. Brown told him.
I clenched my teeth together as Tony dragged himself into the seat next to mine.
The stench was unbearable! The whole room reeked of werewolf!
I used my hand to cover my nose.
Then I watched as Tony used his jacket sleeve to cover his.
This was going to be miserable.
Chapter 4
The whole class period we blocked our noses and threw each other threatening glances.
Finally I could sense that the bell would ring in 1 second.
I jumped up and scopped my books into my arms in one quick movement.
Tony did the same.
I started out the door and the bell rang.
Tony followed me without a word. I swiftly ran into my next class before anyone leaving math was even out of their seats.
The teacher scolded me and told me to wait out in the hall.
I backed out of the classroom and stood by the door, refusing to look at Tony.
"Leech..." I heard him say under his breath.
I spun around to face him. "Excuse me?! I'm not the one who is an oversized dog!" I screamed.
"I'm not the one who kills people for their blood!" He replied.
"My family doesn't do that..." I muttered, recalling last night.
"What about that boy who was 'attacked by an animal' last night? He was killed by one of your kind. My clan is going to stop this." He replied.
"I-I was hungry...I couldn't control myself..." I stuttered, then felt angry. Who did he think he was?! "So now your clan is going to stop this, huh?!"
"Exactly. You couldn't control yourself. Yes, my clan is going to stop this mess. If you kill another human, I will have to kill you
." Tony said in a menacing way.
I glanced around and noticed that there were now plenty of humans in the hallway that could overhear.
"You'll kill me?!" I hissed under my breath, "You'll kill me?! And how old are you?!"
"Thirteen. And you?" Tony said.
"Forever twelve." I replied with a menacing glare.
"How long have you been twelve?" Tony asked.
"Longer than you can count, dog boy." I replied, then was in the class and in my seat before he could growl.
