I donβt remember any of my past.
But thereβs plenty of my future to fill the gaps. All I remember is waking up in a red room. I remember eyes. I remember that rust smell that burned my nose. All of them, those people, wearing black cloaks. They swayed in the air. Even without wind. As if it was alive. Like a living shadow. Dark and Lonely. I remember feeling frightened. Afraid for my life. They seemed amused by the fact that I was frightened. They all laughed quiet little laughs. Out of the crowd he stepped out.
He appeared to be the leader of this odd society. He pulled down his hood and smiled. βWelcome Jade.β Jade, I thought. Is that my name? βMy name, βhe said, βis Xavier.β I stared at him, completely dumbfounded, while they just stared at me, anticipating my reaction. Suddenly Xavier snapped his long fingers twice. All of the cloaked figures lowered their hoods and smiled. I counted the pairs of eyes. There were seven pairs, including Xavier. Five boys, two girls. There was girl with short black, curly hair that had a huge grin behind her shell-pink lips. She seemed very familiar, yet I was positive of the fact that I had never seen her in my life. Her irises were a familiar-but still incredibly beautiful- chocolate brown. Her eyes, wide with excitement, were staring straight at me. I had been so absorbed with this familiar stranger that it startled me when Xavier spoke again. βEliza, Felix, the bodies.
As I looked around this odd photo lab I noticed what that the smell that had burned my nose was coming from bodies. They were everywhere.βTerro, Bree, would you bring our Jade to Charleneβs?β A boy probably in his late teens or early twenties stepped forward. He was tall with dark black hair and broad shoulders. He was followed by the familiar girl. As I glanced around the room from the corner of my eye, I noticed that it was just Terro, Bree and I were the only people in the room.
βHi Jade!!!β Bree said, throwing her small arms around me. I was very aware of the fact that this small Bree girl was hurt when I didnβt hug her back. When she pulled away, she had tears in her eyes. I felt bad about it though. βBree, you canβt be hurt. She doesnβt remember us. Donβt you remember them? What they did to her?β Terro said obviously annoyed of reminding little Bree. βIβm sorry", she whispered.
"We have no time to waste, Charlene's waiting." he said emotionless before glancing at me and closing his eyes. His eyes opened wide and in an in-humanly speed, twirled around and darted out the door.
"You'll have to excuse Terro's rude behavior." she said apolageticly. I nodded my head and she smiled. "Please, we must hurry." She said as she ran out the door. She stopped outside and a red manicured hand sliced out from beneath her robe and grabbed my wrist. I was dragged down the street until she whispered for me to close my eyes.Surprisingly, I listened.
She shoved me into a waiting jeep that was as black as ravens feathers. I must of drifted off because the next thing I remember, I was being carried through a dark and humid hallway. I heard a door click open and I was instantley engulfed in bright, white light.
"We have the sleeping princess." I heard Terro exclaime. "Bring her to me." I heard a gentle, mother like voice say.I opened my eyes and I heard a small gasp. I could hear the mother like voice whisper a prayer. "She is finally here." When I gave her a questioning gaze, she said,"I'm sorry, but the last time I saw you I thought you were gone for good." "She won't remember you." said Terro.
