Chapter 1
My dreams are not mine. But there still dreams, even if I don't specificlly choose to dream that dream. No one can. I'm litteraly trapped inside someones head, forced to look with my very own eyes. Yet it doesn't hurt to look at someone elses life. Tonight I won't sleep, I say that every night, at school and on the way back. Then It comes back to now. My brother, Josh, is snoring loudly next door. I'm not aloud in his room. But I have seen that his walls are bare, and the laundry scattered on the oak floor. His bed is beside the huge open window, where the walls were painted a deep blue. He's simple. Too simple, that sometimes I wonder if he'll ever find the right woman to love him dearly. He's 17, just two years older than my self. I'm secretly glad that he can snore- It's enogh to keep me awake in this deadly hour.
I've heard that you have sweet dreams at 9pm sharp, and nightmares at 12 at night. Their wrong you know. Nothing can stop this, or a proffesor for that matter. So I just dream. It's as if I always get the bad dreams, and the rest may go to the person. I wonder who else Is like me. If I'm alone, then I'd die. I never thought of how I could kill mself. Depression maybe? Suicide? It never wors. Unless someone else Is killing me. But I won't mind. This... curse has inflicted upon me when I was 7. It affected my family. No not the dreams. The torture they go through. I don't speak. Even If i have to. They give me detentions the school. kids ignore me, I'm used to it. And tonight, I must dream.
Josh is yelling to his mates. He kicks the ball around in circles, whilst he fist his hair. They ignore him. Abruptly, the dream snaps and is formed into a new screen. Theres no Josh. But theres a small lake. I can see the trees blocking a passage way, there sisters close together. I walk carfeful not to not break any twigs. The dream will change if I harm the surroundings. I don't need it to change. My steps become louder, filling in the eerie silence. Then I see it. But first i can actually hear it before coming face to face. It's like an echoe bouncing of the walls. Except that there are no walls. Glass maybe, because I can't go through. Like a shield blocking the enemy that dares to enter the kings fort. I don't think i have had a dream like that before, if i had it would belong to Alex. My cousin. Suddenly I am interrupted by a feirce snarl. Josh. He's there, so it must be his dream. Josh is not alone, but with a few brawny boys his age. I frown, eyeing his swollen, pink knuckles. Then I glance at them. The boys, i notice that the tallest one has a huge mark on his upper eye. It will leave a bruise.
5 minutes seem to be a hours worth of fighting, and i don't why they fought. But it's just a dream, a fast forward dream. Theres always this glass shield, blocking me out as if i were an enemy. An enemy uninvited to a dream. This is josh' dream. Fighting. Him always bieng the hero. It hurts to look, so im forced. Just a while left till' i wake. Or come back.
it doesn't end well.
Chapter 2
My screams are being heard around the house. Josh does not come.
neither does Mom. Nor dad. Dad should be back from his night shift. My screaming has stopped. although my throat still burns and my lungs are in need for air. It's always like this, the screaming the shouting, even after silly dreams. Last night was the best dreams I dreamt. At least I don't have to go through therapy. I just lay there my eyes are shut tight, then I can hear my door open. the creaking gives it away. Dad forgets to oil my door.
" honey?" moms voice. I tilt my head toward her, the corners o my mouth twitching ever so slightly.
