So spake the elven maid
By Susan Evelyn
The future ahead,
The past is dead.
Time flows fast and red.
Green eyes, blue eyes,
Hazel and grey;
Avert your gaze, my lord,
Fearsome and fey.
Your people look for you,
Lands far away.
Go to them, care for them,
Tarry not, nor stray.
Your fortune beckons clear and true.
What fates hold sway?
The silver spires, the open plains,
These are not they.
The future ahead,
The past is dead,
Tho' it birthed our greatest dread.
Leave, tho' I fain see thee go.
Foul and grey
Days grow cold as winter snow.
Dark comes to stay.
Love requires the world be whole.
You must away.
For vict'ry, you must risk your soul
Tested in the fray.
Look forward, my lord, not behind.
There lies your way.
You have roamed and you have hunted.
Seek now your prey.
The future ahead,
The past is dead,
When all is done, is said.
