Chapter One

 

 There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.

It wasn't the mist that caused me to stray, but it was there that my thoughts betrayed me.

Thoughts of my past and thoughts of my probable future. Like reflections in a pond for all to see.

"You're a disgrace to the Fairy Family!" My ugly thoughts revealed as I stare at the injured human at my feet.

My past seemed so serene by comparison and my future looked bleak for the moment.

We never harm humans . . . never, even if they plan to harm us.

Who would believe it was an accident and if they didn't believe me then what would I do?

Yet, as I stare at him, I can't help but feel a terrible hatred welling inside.

I try to piece together the events of the previous eight years together in my mind.  Even if I could, put them in order. There is no justification for this type of betrayal.

 A Hexed mind is a dangerous mind.

I would give anything if I could just take it back.

It was just a reaction, it wasn't intentional, but still...
