I was running. They where right behind me. But what are they? Humans. No, more than that. More complex. The most ominous thing I have ever seen. I ran on. It has to be a dream, doesn't it? Nothing this real..could be real. Could it? Some were deadly slow, others, for me, were deadly fast. My first instinct told me too not let any contact come between me and the living dead. One touched me. I swung my arm back, realizing I had a bo staff, and knocked of the privacy intruders head. Clean off. No blood. There should be blood, shouldn't there? I mean, living or not. Ominous or not. There should be blood, shouldn't there be? It has to be a dream. It has to be. It can't be real. It can't. Well, it can. But PLEASE, PLEASE , be a dream
"Boa! What should we do now?" I knew it was me. But why was I being called Boa? The person that shouted (being called Quiver, don't even ask me how I know. I don't even know!) had startled me. She looked at me, like I knew the answer or something. But, I did have the answer. The words floated out of my mouth smoothly, no stutter between the phrases.
"Quiver! You and X go and set the bombs, A-W style. Pliers, go with Slay to shelter 1, make sure none get in. Help the Waiters out. Light, Flash, and Works go distract them to the field, Quiver and X should be ready by the time you get there. Ava, make sure you trap them with your signature move. Everyone else, plan A-1. Me? I'll go and make sure this works. Maybe knock off some heads while I'm at it."
Not one moment after I finished saying what I said (like I knew what that meant!), everyone nodded their heads and departed. Quiver and X headed North, the same way we were already heading. Pliers and Slay headed east, a few Dead following them. I motioned several others to the east as well. Pliers kept going, even though some Dead were right behind him. He knew we had is back. I smiled and whacked the closest Dead's head off. Light and Flash, running so quick to the south with Works trailing, like they were herding the Dead. I could see easily how Light and Flash got their names. The plan had actually been working. For the moment. I heard a shriek come from the Dead.
It was Flash. Splinter, Bulb, and Hoof all turned and started running. I told them to stay and go with the plan. I ran back instead. Lightning was tending to Flash as a worried Works continued his part of the plan. Now Works name made sense. Flash lay motionless on the ground, sobbing quietly to herself, slowly falling to sleep. Her left arm had a huge bloody gash. With a few hand gestures, I told Light I'd take care of her. She nodded, tears swelling in her amber eyes. I could feel her concern. She left to help Works.
"Flash, Med will fix you right up. I promise." I whispered. No response. I looked down. She slowly opened her eyes. She was pale. Too pale. She sat up straight. I knew what had happened to poor little Flash. She was one of them. My mission as a leader had failed. I bit my lip to hold back my anger. Flash lunged and sank her now brown and yellow teeth into my neck.
I closed my eyes and held my bloody neck. I looked down at the remains of Flash. My bo staff had penetrated the middle of her forehead. I slowly sank to my knees. I could feel my self slowly turning into one of them. I heard Quiver shriek my name. 'Too many shrieks today' I thought. I slowly faded away.
