Prologue- Through the Veil
It all began when she drowned in the river. . .
Angelica was an 18 year old girl who lived in a quiet village in a hidden forest. She spent a lot of time doing chores such as milking the cows, feeding the chickens, doing the laundry, and helping her father in the garden. It was what she did in her free time that made her an extraordinary person. All she did was help people, even if they didn't seem to want help.
She was commented for her kind actions and appreciated by the people in her village. Despite her mother's bad reputation, the villagers looked past this and saw Angelica's pure heart of gold. They would never guess that this would eventually lead to the end of her life.
It was a hot summer day, and Angelica was picking flowers by the river bank. She suddenly heard a voice crying in despair, drowned out by the roaring of the river waters. She turned and saw a little boy being carried by the river current. Angelica ran for the river and plunged into the icy water, and grabbed the boy. She lead him to a tree branch and he gripped on to it. Soon the other adults saw the boy and helped him, but they watched mournfully as Angelica continued to go down the current.
She was tossed and turned in the water, the breathe being pushed out of her. She knew no one could save her. She was going to die. She felt Death near her, but she wasn't afraid. Angelica simply closed her eyes and whispered. I have done good in this world, dear Lord, I hope that I may go to Heaven when I depart Earth. . .
She sighed and was carried into Death's arms and passed through the veil between Earth and the Afterlife. . .
