"Mum, can I go for a swim at the beach?" I asked on one sunny afternoon.
"Sure, Grace, but please return by sunset." Mum replied.
With my swimming costume on (note that I'm very close to the beach from the back garden), I dashed down to the beach. There was a fair bit of breeze on the shoreline, but that's natural for beaches, isn't it? I ran into the water. The water was cool, refreshing for a hot day like this. As soon as it got deep enough, I began to swim.
Dad taught me to swim when I was seven, and throughout the six years since, I've been swimming confidently (sort-of). I went on holiday last year to Florida and actually swam WITH dolphins! I even had a ride on one of their backs! That was SO fun. I even went underwater!
A few boys splashed about around where I was, so I joined them. They were some of the Year Fives at my middle school. That's the thing about living in Ocean Pacific. You know just about everybody in town - from a one month old baby to an ninety-nine year old man! Everyone's always in good spirit, breathing in the good sea air. It keeps us healthy, or so Mum says. You don't get the same swimming experience at pools, oh no.
We had a fun time playing 'Water It', like 'It', but in water. The chase even went underwater at some stages! Once sunset came, we declared the winner - Danny, the eldest boy of the lot.
The next day, I went back to the beach and went to the cave under the cliff. It's like a big lagoon, with a massive and deep rockpool in the center. You can actually swim in the rockpool! I sat with my legs in the water and slid in.
It was rather turquoise underwater and a bit rocky, but it was beautiful. The lights from the surface made the rockpool glow, so I could see easily. I explored this underwater world, but sunset came too soon.
I never knew that the next day would be different to my usual standard. Often, I'd just expect my casual swimming stuff...
...but this was different.
The Secret of Ocean PacificIt was just a casual day. I was out swimming in the sea, when I saw a mysterious glow a bit further out. The glow was purple, then blue, then green, then yellow, then back to purple again. Yeah, the loop kept going on and on and on.
Obviously, me being curious, I decided to check it out. I went under and swam. The water around went in the colours of the loop. In the heart of the glow was a pendant.
You can get all sorts of pendants in Ocean Pacific, but not one like this. This one was wooden with carvings of swirls. In the center of the pendant, was a diamond. I took it and went back up to surface for air. The diamond on the pendant reflected the sunlight over to a place far over from the beach. Obviously, me being as curious as I am, I swam over to see where the light led.
(Continuing this soon, guys. Have a good Easter! B.Rees)
