Chapter 1

This happened the day before I was told, and before my memory kicked in. Tabby, Corina, Katrina, Jake and I were gathered around the dining room table, having a snack. And that's when it happened.
Eating cheese and crackers was a good way to spend a warm saturday afternoon, I have to admit. But what happened next wasn't. And anyone woh was there would have thought the same thing.
Jake was freaking out. Suddenly, he got up out of his chair, and started flipping things over. It was like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum. The only difference was that no one had done anything to make Jake mad.
He flipped the chairs over, he knocked the cheese and crackers off the table. He ripped posters off the wall. He grabbed anything near him and pretty much broke it, or pounded on it as hard as he could with his fists.
Everybody knew what was going on, except me. "What is he doing?" I screamed over Jakes yelling.
"I'm sorry, we can't explain."
"Why are you guys always keeping secrets from me?" To me it seemed like they were always keeping secrets from me. Like when I asked them all where they were going, they said no where. They went to the beach, and didn't want me to come with them.
"We're not. Right now just isn't the time." Corina said sympathetically.
"What happened to telling eachother everything? We used to all the time. It seems like you completely ignore me now. I don't know why. Is it because we're cousins or something?" I asked, over Jakes screaming tantrum.
"No, it's just that, if I told you now, you wouldn't be able to hear everything. I will tell you after he leaves... I mean, after his tantrum is over." Corina yelled.
I didn't want to bother yelling over his tantrum, so I nodded my head. I could see it in her eyes that she was sorry. And that she was being serious.
I turned my attention back to Jake. He was now laying on the ground, kicking and pounding. He was like a four or five year old at the toy store, who can't get the toy they want, except they have anger management problems.
"Nate leave! We don't want you here! Get out!" Katrina screamed on the top of her lungs.
