I trust nothing in this realm where swords clashes with shields, and survival struggles with individual protection.
Wizards and elves of all kinds are the humans only allies in the this world filled with dragons fighting and killing knights.
My mother once told me that before the war, dragons and trolls and all other dark creatures were at peace with the good, until the day when all of creation fell to the Dragon King's feet.
The Dragon King a dark and evil soul forced most of the world into slavery and convinced the dragons and trolls along with the others how he could give them the power of their desires if they followed him.
Osurth, they called The Dragon King, had secretly planned this attack before he stepped forward to claim the throne of the dark side, which had been empty for thousands of years.
Garamith the fae wizard is the only one who can stand against the magic of the dragon king.
But Garamith is gone. He hasnβt been seen since Osurth's threat to take hold of the Fae realm. The people question Garamith absent. βHeβs a coward,β the royal servants would whisper. βA fake wizard,β the merchants would gossip.
βDarius,β they would cry in the night. β Oh, Darius, defeated Prince of Dardadian! Rise again and claim vengeance for your land and people!β
I always had this strange feeling that despite what others would say about Garamith that I needed to find him. We needed his help and show the world that they were wrong about him.
But how can I get out of this town, ruled by Osurth, or even come close to venturing far enough to find him? Osurth has eyes and ears everywhere.
I've always sought adventure, but mother says it's too "dangerous" for a girl to go out on her own in the wilderness, only someone like my brother the hunter, can do any of the outdoor things.
My mother had always favored my brother, her the first born child. Mother believed him to be the better of the two of us. Itβs pretty common isn't it. Why do parent's compare their children?
I feel as though I'm insignificant, and that if I left for one moon cycle no one would notice, except perhaps my closest friend Merek.
Merek is a handsome young man who is working to become a knight. However, Iβve bested him on many of the tasks. Although I've always seen him more as a brother, I know the young women of our village wish he would marry them.
Merek agrees with me that we should find Garamith. He says that we should both leave to find the mage, so that we can recover our society from the dragon.
β What is everyone talking about?βMerek said. We were sparing with twin blades in the cave where we practice. I had just taken his favored hand and now he was fighting me off with just one blade. β Garamith is out gathering an army to fight the dragon King.β
β Garamith has disappeared,β I tell him, taking his last blade. He put up his arms in surrender. β If he canβt be found then we must find heroes.β
βNo hero will come to save us unless we fight with Garamith.β Merek went to gather his blades.
β There must be heroes out there still willing to join our fight.β I sat down on the ground. Merek sat next to me.
βBut where can we ever find a hero strong enough to fight the dragon King or brave enough?β
I thought a moment. βPerhaps we must become the heroes.β
