'The thing came at her at a terrifying speed and she had no-where to run. She dived over the grass just as the Wendigo flipped around; apparently deciding she's an easy target.
'Sweet Mother! Help!'
Angel thtrew her knife and then itβs on her, claws flying. She dodged and ducked, using every single trick she owned to stay ahead of its strikes. Instinct demanded she turn and run, but the moment she did sheβd be dead. So instead she circled it, desperate to keep the Wendigo turning so it couldnβt catch her.
Things were going fine until her foot caught on an uneven section of the ground. She went down hard, trying to roll out of the way. But a suffocating weight landed on her back, pinning her as sharp teeth ripped into her shoulder. TAngel screamed and flailled, trying to flip the monster off. It was no useβthe thing was too damn heavy. Distantly, she could hear menβs voices yelling and smell the acrid scent of guns. The Wendigo gives her a shake; teeth digging in deeper as wetness cover her back.
Blessed numbness soaked into her skin, wrapping itself around her. A small part of her mind screamed that itβs bad, so very, very bad, but she couldnβt dredge up enough energy to care.
The weight suddenly disappeared from her back, a terrible scream filling the air. She wanted to look, but she couldnβt seem to move her head.
Hands turned her over and arms she could only half feel lifted her from the ground. Someone was arguing, but she couldnβt focus long enough to figure out what the big deal was. She just wanted them to shut up so she could sleep.
Angel blinked at the chest pressed against her cheek. Such a nice colour, she thoutght distantly. Trying to lift her hand to run a finger along those scales was a terrible mistake, though. Pain lanced through her entire body, fire coursing along her veins, spreading agony in its wake.
βOh gods. That hurts.β she whimpers.
βHang on. Youβre going to be okay.β a voice whispers in her ear.
Chapter 1:
Angel opened her eyes, but shut i quickly as little darts pierced her skull. Gritting her teeth, she rubbed the palms of her hands against throbbing eyes.
