The Oknin by InwΓ« K.N. McCanna (smallest ebook reader .TXT) π
On an almost forgotten island people thrive, with few contacts to the outside world. But they aren't alone - other humanoid beings such as the Balarians live among them, along with other fantasy creatures. The Arotites have isolated themselves in the middle of this island, with little knowledge of the world around them, or even of what they are.
Fugitive cryptozoologist expert, Jake Blakely comes to prove to the islanders mythical beings don't exist to make some spare change.
Thomas, a half-Balarian, takes him on an expedition across the mountains.
Emelias; an Arotite girl who seems of a completely different race wants nothing to escape.
When evil creatures start to appear it's only possible that the Oknin has been in use.
Everything shall soon change.

This book is still under revision - I'm uploading the things I have edited, therefore some chapters may be left unfinished.
Throughout this book you may find that there are words of a seemingly different language(s). This language(s) are of my own imagination, therefore I don't provide a pronounciation key.
I looked at it. Long and hard. What it was, I did't care. All I knew was that it disgusted me.
I just about gagged from how this wretched creature looked.
I blinked nonchalantly, pretending my cornflower blue eyes could glow in the dark room of the abandoned classroom. My eyes scanned the chamber-like room in the dim morning light preceeding from the door to my left. There were no windows, and the walls were smothered in infinite darkness that had transferred from the beast's entity. The only piece of furniture I noticed was an antique desk pushed up against the opposing wall. Underneath me, the flagstones drew the cool air up and around my barefeet.
My eyes drew back to the enormous lump that lay before me. I had done it a favor. It better give me strength, keep me invincible.
.
After all, I had saved it from it's miserable life. I had killed it, and now...
A grin crept on to my face, eyes sparkling. Miserable cowards! They could never accomplish what I have done! I began to tremble, but not with fear. No, I was trembling with excitement. I shall be named superior for my deed! I was brave. I was prepared. I was victorious.
I swivelled my heel to face the door. I saundered over to the door way, green, sticky blood covering my arms and legs. Suddenly, I stopped dead in my tracks. My head turned to glance back at the monster whilst my feet carried me to it. Kneeling down beside the creature's hidden face, directly in a pool of blood,I held up my index finger as the nail grew another two inches long. It resembled that of a knife, with a sharp edge and metallic gleam. I leaned over and sliced the neck. The thick, gooey blood trickled down, numbing my lips as I sucked greedily. I wiped as much as I could off of my lips. My blue velveteen dress was now drenched with the fluid, but I ignored it as I searched for the leg. Once found, I severed it at the joint.
In the window-lit halls I studied my prize while I made my way to the dorms. The leg, from what I could tell from storybooks, was like that of a dogs'.Replacing the fur was shimmering, turqoise, reptilian scales that reminded me of water. I curiosly stroked it back and forth. The texture would be tough, like armor, going downwards, but going the opposite way it would be soft, like the feathers that hung in some of our classrooms.
My right side of my lip pulled up in a slanted smile, as I marched triumphantly through the building.
