Getting Chosen

I stare off in the forest; hunger getting to me. I wanted some blood, but could not get it. My stomach grumbled to me in anger. After watching a bleeding elk. I licked my lips, but I sighed in despise knowing I cannot eat anything, because of blood testing today. That is the only one reason why. Also war. We go against humans, evil pixies, and sometimes werewolves if they post a threat to humans. The reason why humans, is if they post a threat to harm every magical or monster thing. The same for evil pixies. Then I heard my mom calling my name. "Zanzi (Z-A-N-Z-E FOR THOSE WHO HAVE TROUBLE PRONOUNCING IT.) Come here" I ran toward the crying of my mother voice. When I arrived I saw tries streaming down her face I looked at them. "what is worn mom?" I said "I just hope you do not get chosen, I really do not want you to celebrate your 12 birthday in a cage, dead, or in war." Mother said "It will be ok, Mama. I am pretty sure I will not get chosen unless I owe someone..." I said to mother. Mother's face turned pale. "Do you remember, Boruy you owe him money and this is the perfect way to get back at you, because he won the bet of the race.." I said, "I was very sick that day and Boruy said that he will not do that since he said the advantage and plus he died." My mother sighed. "Still does he has a little sister?" I said, "Yes, but she is to young to know and only the person who can do it is the person who I owe." BANG BANG BOM

Me and my mother looked up and out in the sky it was about to get dark out side. My mother walked to the closet and pulled out a blue shirt, white gloves, and some regular skinny jeans. I smiled and walked over to mother. "Thanks mom. Do you know where dad is at? I have not seen him all day." My mom said, "He left this morning to get some food." I sighed he promised me that he will take me this time, but of course he has to take my little brother. I changed into my clothes and sighed. They only take girls in the war. Not boys, because they are better then girls. I walked toward my mother in the kitchen. I saw her smile, "I knew you would look wonderful." I smiled to my mother, but then I heard the voice that call us. "Girls come now it is time." My mother looked at me. "Now where is your father?" I nodded in agreement. My mother headed toward the door; while she was doing that I turned around and looked around the room looking at my last sight of the house if I was chosen. My mother finally opened the door and walked out. I walked out to closing the door as if it was the house we will never see again. We were heading towards town square when something caught my eye. My dad and brother. "Mother! Bou and dad is here!" Mother turned aroumnd in suprised and ran toward them, but slipped. I heard my mom and dad talk. My mother turned around toward me. I could see that she was going to cry. She ran to me and said "Zanzi we know are alone. Every girl and women must live here in... torture, when men live in happiness." I froze. I will never see my dad and brother agian. Thanks to the L.O.A (Leaders of All). I was about to cry when I saw my father the three middle fingers to his heart. That means let faith, hope, and your dreams be with you. "Mother we should be going now." I said My mother nodded in agreement, I showed the same thing father did to me back to him. I ran off to mother and I saw her stare coldly at the L.O.A "Why do they treat girls differntly?" Mother Said "I really do not know Mother" I said in response. I walked over to them and they told me to hold out my finger. I did. They got a very sharp needdle and poke it in me. There was blood dripping every where. They walked toward the machine and test ed my blood. "Thank you young lady; for being healthy. Here is a cup of elk blood." I took it and said, "Thank you sir" He smiled "My pleasure." I ran over to mother, And gave her the cup of blood. "Drink some of it you look pale mother." My mother smiled and took a sip of the glass and gave the rest to me.

"Hello Ladies. Welcome, today we changed things up a bit. No one owes anyone no more, but we now will have volenters for others. Well. It is time to pick our 15 kids! This is so exiting. Kids you will not see a number where you got your shot!" I looked down and I saw a number 1. "Ok here is go 90, 75, 69, 2, 0, 3,4,7,88,9,10,44,606,908,55. The last number ringed in my ear seeing two 1 year olds walking toward the stage. There was complete slince. "Wait I can take their place!" I said. The lady smiled. "How thoughtful." She said in an angry tone. "Did I forget to mention that we now are taking one to 18? So how old are you little girl?" "Mam I am not a little girl I am 12.' I walked up to the stage and the people did. The three heart fingers.
