Excerpt from the book:
The rebellious Kelsi Langton has always been strong. Being a young vampire at the age of 16 can be hard when you are expected to grow to be one of the best fighters. Here at The Castle of Nights are 2 types of vamps.
1. The Evenities= These so happens to be the best vampires. They are stronger, and more stealthier. They are most likely expected to be the ones sett off to fight the biggest battles.
2. The Arcinders.= These vamps are known to be more faster and than the Evenities. They all seem to have the same petite shape. They are also expected to fight, but under the Eventies. Almost like a side kick. Once they graduate, they have the choice to fight, or blend in with human world and make a living.
The ones who choses to make a living in the human world are frowned upon and laughed at.
Humans knows about them. Some chose to shun them and wants nothing to do with them, while others invites them in with opened arms.
Kelsi happens to be an Arcinder, but one of the best. She puts most Evenities to shame. Coming from a long line of Arcinders, it wasnt to be expected. Is it because her mom was an Evenitie and her dad was an Arcinder?
One day, when the Castle is in trouble, Kelsi may be only one to save it, but giving all the reality checks she can take, she may not be able to.....

known Kelsi to 'abide by the rules.'?"Jax said using air quotes. His black hair was super long, reaching just passed his elbows. He had pale skin, and golden brown eyes, If you asked, me, he looks more vampire than the rest of us. It's kind of freaky. When I first met him, I was kind of scared, until I learned his name.
Me on the other hand was almost there. I had olive skin, and long dark brown almost black hair that reached the middle of my back. My eyes were Grey with a blue outline to it. Why is this important? Because when I first meet someone they first think im blind, or two think I'm wearing contacts. Alot of people said they wished they had my eyes. Well take them, I'll trade. My body was slightly different from the Arcinders. They were all tall, long legged, and pencil thin. Whereas I am a couple centimeters shorter, and have more curves. People begin to think I'm an Evenitie. I get those features from my dad. Evenities have awesome body types, but super short hair. They're skin is slightly darker than ours.
They have fangs that naturally stays out, but our comes out when we want them to. That's why it's easier for Arcinders to live with the humans without raising suspicions.
That's one thing that sucks for Evenities. They really don't have a choice of living with the humans. Of course, no one in their right minds would, with all the riots some would cause if they figure out what we are. Some even stalk us to either study us, or try to kill us.
There have been a few, less than five maybe, stories of some forbidden relationships formed between Arcinders and humans. That, and the natural order of things is how we're considered lower class when it comes to Evenities.
If you're an Evenitie, school is required of you. Once you sign your name in one, it's literally like your life. If you fail, you continue to retake courses, once you've hit your 100th year in one, and you can't seem to get it right, they kill you.
Of course it hasn't happened yet, but with all of this running and failing, I'll probably be the one to make history of it.
''So, anybody hear about that new kid Travice?" Lenn asked.
"No what about him?" I asked him.
"People are making a big fuss about him being here. Especially Heather and Carlice." he told us. Heather and Carlice are the two most annoying trashy, fast, slutty girls here. If you told them that teddy bears had penises. they'd buy a whole box of them.
"Have you seen him?" Ruby asked.
"Nope, but I hear hear he's coming today."
"Ms. Langton." I heard Ms. Zhelker's voice boom across the quad. All the chatter stopped while eyes fell on me.
"Kelsi....what did you do? Didn't you already do your 'master escape plan' last night and failed." Ben asked laughing.
"I bet she got caught keying Zhelker's car." Lenn laughed. I rolled my eyes at them, and headed towards her.
"Yes?" I asked. She heard the annoyance in my voice and smiled.
"You know we've been having trouble with keeping you in line. So today, the best solution strolled in." I looked at her expectantly when she didn't finish.
"And....'' I gestured for her to move on.
"This here us Travice Mroyagi." she pointed to a boy I didn't see standing right next to her. He was gorgeous. He had Pale blonde hair, and deep blue eyes. He wore a yellow Aeropostale shirt, and light faded jeans. Guess he's big on designer labels. I bet Heather and Carlice would eat him right up.
I looked back her. "So..." I waved my hands in circles. Why was she introducing him to me?
She let out a long breath of annoyance, and I let out a wide smile of satisfaction.
"So Ms. Langston, he is an Arcinder as well. I need you to show him around for the next few days. I have purposely put him in all of your classes.'' She said getting ready to leave.
"So, where's the responsibility lesson in that?" I asked before she walked away. She smiled. "Oh, I almost forgot. If he fails 3 out of 5 classes, then you fail as well.''
"WHAT?!" I screeched. Heads snapped up.
"Is there a problem?" She rose her dark eyebrow at me.
I know I shouldn't have been surprised. When ever someone has disappointed the school board, they are assigned a look after; If they fail, you fail. This was one of the first things they teach you.
"No." I grumbled.
"Good." she said and stalked off. I followed her angrily with my eye. If only I brought a fork with me, then I could throw it at her back and--
"Hey." Travice said waving his hand, towering over me. I snapped out of my murder plan and turned face him.
"Don't worry, I'm a straight A student." he grinned. His dimples pressed against his cheeks giving off baby features.
"Really?" Well than this wouldn't be so bad.
"Why'd you get transferred then?" I asked.
"My parents didn't like Night voices Academy." he told me.
"I heard it was a great school"
"Well I guess the recent fires would prove otherwise."
"Fires?" I questioned.
He just nodded.
Fires had to be the most disrespect you could show any vampire, let alone a school.
He looked at me, and kind of frozen.
"You okay?" I asked wanting to get back to my lasagna.
"Um..." he started.
"Yea?" I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Um...no offense but...umm...are you blin-"
"No, im not blind." I exhaled angrily.
"Sorry," he said as we began to start walking toward the table.
When Ruby saw us, her eyes grew big. I saw Haley fixing her clothes and laughed to myself. Maybe taking the pigtails out, and the thick framed glasses off would help.
"Hey guys this is Travice, Travice this is Ruby, Lenn, Ben, Haley, and Jax.'' I pointed out my friends.
"Hi." Ruby said blushing. He waved to all of them . I took my seat next to Ruby, and he went over to Lenn.
"Hey what's up." Lenn greeted him.
They both ended up in mindless chatter. "Kelsi, like really, I call dibs." Ruby whispered. I shrugged. She clapped her hands happily.
"Wait, are you Kelsi Langton?" Travice asked curiously.
"I think so why?" I asked.
He started to laugh. "Oh man! You are like a legend at my school! Seriously." I wasn't sure if I should be happy or worried. "Why?" I asked. "Aren't you the runaway, bad-ass, with the loose screws?"
"Welp, that much sums her up." Jax laughed, and I shot him an evil look.
"I do not have loose screws." I defended myself.
"I'm just humoring you." he smiled.
If me trying to run got out, what else did?
When we left lunch, we had 30 minutes of free time. Me and Ruby went up to our Dorm with Jax.
"Oh my gosh! I call Travice!" Haley shouted.
"No, I already called dibs! Kelsi TELL HER!" Ruby demanded.
"That's true." I sighed walking over to the cooler, grabbing me a Root beer, and tossing one to Jax.
"Thanks." he chugged it down.
"I hope you girls aren't going to fight over him." I laughed when they wouldn't stop they're shrieking. After a while they glared each other down for literally 10 minutes.
The whole time as they were calling each other 'sluts' and 'whores' , I was playing in Jax's hair. I put it into a super high ponytail, and put it in a messy bun. Every once in a while he would sigh, saying my finger felt like heaven on his scalp.
"Viola!" I said patting his cheek. He smiled, pushing down on it, and watching it rise back up.
"You know, what, it doesn't even matter because he likes Kelsi." I heard Haley say.
Ruby kind of nodded, still shooting her evil glances
"No, finish your arguing, I was enjoying it.'' laughed.
"Why would he like Kelsi?" Jax asked. "Yea, she's gorgeous, but she's ours so hands off." he said making faces at me and Ruby's make-up.
"What do you mean 'ours' ''? I questioned.
"You know, me, Benn, and Lenn." his voice trailed off.
Haley cleared her throat. "What about us?" she waved her finger between her and Ruby. He shrugged. "I guess so, but I don't see Kelz fighting over guys daily.'' he laughed.
''EW What is this!'' he shouted dropping something. "That's my counselor idiot!" Ruby growled rushing over to him. She basically beat Jax till he was pleading for her to stop.
It took me and Haley to break it up.
"Guys, we gotta go." I said looking at the time.
We helped Ruby clean up her stuff, and headed down stairs.
"Kelsi?" some short brunette asked.
"Yup?" I asked. I was already late, but at least I was going to class. "Um, I have a note for you." she handed my a small piece of paper. When I took it from her, she looked up at me confused. She looked left and right and back to me.
"Thanks." I said. She nodded her head slowly.
I opened up this mysterious letter. Who ever wrote it had the most beautifulest hand writing.
Once living gets tough, close your eyes and live in your dreams. I'll help you find your way, little one. Follow me and your days would be fascinating but contentious. Drink from my pot, and your eyes will stare into the sunset, while your soul is mine.
