needed to hear when I was not feeling so well. "Your mother said you had been running a temperature the last 5 days." My father said looking down at me. "Yes.." I said frowning and looking at the floor, as if it were a crime. "Well I bet all the boys thought you were the hottest thing!" He laughed at his own joke. I smiled in spite of myself and sat down at the counter. "Why is it that when I woke up this morning I felt fine, and even now feel fine?" My dad slowly took off his jacket but didn't answer me. "Dad..?" I questioned thinking something was wrong. "Honey, I think there are allot of things we need to talk about as a family but that can wait until your mom gets home." I frowned again irritated that anytime we needed to talk he brought my mom into it. I loved my mom but she had such an odd way of looking off into the distance and saying weird things. My dad never said anything but just smiled this sad smile. The meetings we had were always like this, I would ask a question and they would answer with a question or say something that confused me even more. I sighed and asked if we should make dinner. "There is no telling when your mom might get home" My dad glanced at his watch "And anyways, I am starving!" I smiled and stood up wandering over to the kitchen counter, grabbing the sponge and started the dishes. This was our schedule, as my dad made dinner I would finish the dishes and make a salad to go with dinner. I set the table drawn into myself, thinking about the "talk" our family was going to have after dinner. My salads were always very good but today I wasn't quite paying attention to what I as doing and accidentally cut myself while cutting the tomatoes. I quickly put a band-aid on it and when back to work on the salad which was disproportionate in its measurements. I frowned at my work when I set out the salads, my dad's was always the largest one, as he had a substantial appetite but today all of them were meager in its proportions. My mother came home in the middle of us eating, generally we ate a quickly made dinner unless it was the weekend or I started dinner before my dad came home. My mother was always coming and going at random frequencies due to her job and customarily was tired and grouchy. As usual she set her shoes precisely pointed toward the door, ready for her to go to work the next day. She barely glanced at us when she went to her room to change into her more comfortable "around-the-house" cloths. My family wasn't overly-rich but we were pretty well off. Most of the savings went to my bank account for my college college career. my house was on a hill, two story's high and a "forest" out-ling our property. After dinner I made my way to my bedroom and pulled out my diary. I updated my journal saying "I had a temperature the last 5 days, apparently I slept through the whole time and now my dad has decided we are going to have a "family meeting" about it. I hate family meeting, I don't know why he has decided that we are going to have once, since he knows how much it distraught me." I sighed and closed my book glancing as a passing at the clock, the time read "9:00P.M." I steadily walked down the stairs to meet with my mother and father, to have our "family meeting". As I walked down I heard my parents speaking in hushed whispers.
