got out my phone and texted Owen. Hey. Mom freaked. Gotta go to a recital. Pick me up there.
I got dressed while I waited for him to answer. I put on a light blue tube top that flared at the bottom, and a pair of ripped blue jeans with some silver heels.
My phone went off and I looked at the message. k. see you then.
Now all I had to do was figure out a way to go missing without raising mom's suspicion.

Chapter 3

Storm was the first person I went to. And when she saw me coming her face lit up and she ran towards me. β€œHow'd it go?”
I glared at her. β€œHe didn't show.”
She put one hand on her hip and raised her brows. β€œHe did What?”
She said it quietly but you could tell she was raging on the inside.
β€œHe didn't show. I told my mom about him taking me out and she said I had to go to the recital, so I texted him and told him to meet me there. But he never showed.”
She had a murderous look in her eyes.
I started to get a little cautious and stood up for Owen a bit. β€œDon't do anything to serious, Storm. He probably didn't get the message.” Even though he answered. But I wasn't going to tell her that.
β€œDon't lie to me, Ivory. I know he answered back.” She turned with that and stormed off to our first period class.

When we got to lunch I sat at our table and started to pick at my food, feeling like crap.
β€œI knew he was no good.”
Storm and I looked sharply at Carey.
I narrowed my eyes at him. β€œWhat do you
mean?”
He looked up at me from his food. β€œI mean, he's a stupid ass jerk and I knew he was no good.”
β€œHe's got a point there, Ivory.”
β€œNo, he doesn't. It probably all just a big misunderstanding.”
They both just stared at me. I got up and threw my tray away and left.
I went to the library and searched in the back to look up some stuff for my history work on the Korean war.
As I was leaving the library Owen walked up to me. β€œIvory, listen. I'm so sorry I didn't show. I got stuck with some problems and had left my phone at home. I'm sorry.”
I looked him in the eyes and saw he was
really sincere. β€œIt's okay. I understand, sometimes
things get in the way.” I smiled at him. β€œNo hard feelings.”
He smiled back at me. β€œGood, then let me make it up to you. I'm gonna take you out this weekend then. That alright?”
β€œThat's fine.”
β€œThen I'll see you later.” He turned and walked off while I headed to my next period class.

I looked down at my hands covered in intricate tattoos. I laughed and jumped and cried for joy. β€œYes! It's finally happened!” I calmed down and closed my eyes. β€œI'm whole once again.
And no one will ever be able to stop me. Ever.”
I looked over to a man standing next to a door in the far corner. β€œSage.”
β€œYes madam?”
β€œGet me some whine, and invite Giles over for supper. It's time we had a little chat.”
β€œYes madam.” Sage bowed and walked out the door.
I walked around the room mumbling to myself. But I couldn't understand a word I said. Sage returned a while later with some whine and the cooks to set table. A few hours later everything was ready and Sage walked in again.
β€œMadam. Giles is here.”
β€œGood, good. Let him in.”
The door opened and a foot came in. But
before he came all the way in I turned around and
Walked to a seat at the end of the table. β€œIt's happened Giles.”
β€œThen may we celebrate.” You could here the smile on his face when he said those words.

***

I woke up gasping for air again. I had no Idea what the dream was about. But I knew it was related to the dream with the boy. Those were the same hands I had used to cut his hand off.
Instead of going to get something to drink I lay in bed wasting the time away staring at my ceiling not knowing what to do. I couldn't go back to sleep. Even though I was tired as crap, I
couldn't. And I wasn't leaving my room. That Giles man might show up like the boy did. So I lay in bed until my alarm clock went off and I got ready for school.
