our meals already. I hope you donβt mind.β
I shook my head. I was in awe of all that was happening. When our meals came, Brian had ordered me exactly what I would have ordered. We ate our meals slowly and enjoyed each otherβs company. As the hours ticked away, the people in the restaurant seemed to flow around us. Brian and I were in our own world. I loved this man and I wanted so badly to show him how much. I gazed into his slate blue eyes and listened intently to every word he spoke.
When I had finished my dessert, a guitar player came over and started to play a song. I was slightly shocked and embarrassed. I didnβt know why he had decided to play at our table until I realized what song it was. Brian smiled at me and began to sing a little bit of the song. I blushed and noticed everyone looking at us.
βRemember?β He smiled. βRemember our song?β
I began to cry as Brian pushed out his chair, took my hand, and told me to stand up. As soon as I did, he kneeled down and kissed my hand.
βLena, I love you. I know that I havenβt always been the best to you, but I donβt know what I would do without you. You are the most incredible person I know andβ¦β I began to cry as he reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a tiny black box. βI want to know if you want to spend the rest of our lives together. Lena,β He pulled the ring out of the box and offered it to me. βWill you marry me?β
I stood there staring into his warm eyes. I knew, without a doubt, what my answer would be. I sat down on his knee, kissed him on the cheek and said yes. He kissed me and the whole restaurant clapped.
After everything had settled down, Brian and I got up to leave. When we had gotten to the step Brian handed me my gloves and put my coat on me. It was raining so gently and lovely, and my heart was so glad for it. As I was just about to put my second glove on, Brian swept me up in his arms and kissed me. My last glove slipped out of my hand, but I didnβt care. I was in the arms of the one I loved and didnβt want to ruin this moment. As Brian carried me to our car, I glanced back and saw my glove resting on the corner of the step.
