and looked at the ceiling. The scene from earlier playing fresh in my head. It just kept playing over and cover in my head and the words dad said to me, โPapaws deadโฆโ and the plate smashing against the wall. I just want it to stop, I put my pillow over my head to try and make it stop. But it wonโt still, I start crying and mumbling stop but it just keeps playing. The image of me and my papaw sitting at the willow tree comes in my head. I jump up realizing I havenโt been to the willow tree in a long time. I climb off my bed and go stand at the window. I raise the window up and stick my head out feeling the cold breeze go through my long black hair. I turn my head slightly and glance down at the old willow tree. There sitting at one of the roots of the tree is a box. It looks small but I canโt see well from this far away. To get a better look I climbed out my window onto the roof. I use to this all the time when I was a kid so no one knew I was gone. As I got closer to the edge I looked down to see if there was anything I could jump onto. I crawled down to the edge and scooted over it to make myself dangle from the gutter. There was nothing under me so when I let go I landed hard on my feet and ended up falling over onto my butt.
โOk maybe that wasnโt such a good I deal,โ I mumbled to myself.
I stood up and walked over to the willow tree to examine the box closer. It was a thin long rectangular box. On the lid of the box my name was carved into it. I held the box trying to think of what it could be and who it might be from. I flipped the box over constantly examining the sides and every inch of the box, but there was no name of who it was from. I guess my curiosity got the best of me. Slowly I slid the lid off the box. I canโt believe my eyesโฆit's not possibleโฆno way. Inside the box is the necklace my papaw got my granny for their 30th anniversary. Itโs a really beautiful 15 karat gold cross with 12 tiny diamonds imbedded in it. I held the necklace in my hand and held back the tears. Flipping it over onto the back there was a few sweet and simple words. They said, โTo the love of my life, forever and always.โ Then a tear landed on the cross and I knew it had come from me. Blinking to try and clear my sight of all the tears that had just stared spilling over, I finished looking at the cross. It was so beautiful, the way the sun shined on it. Then out of nowhere the question popped into my head, โwho was it from?โ I whispered to myself. The only person it could be from was papawโฆ so I was right! He is still alive and out their somewhere...
