War to follow,
War upon the morrow.

Elves slept, Imps woken,
Sprites to be hidden,
All pray,
Pray to the Day.

War to follow,
War upon the morrow.

The Night says fight,
The Day says fight,
So gather your shields and sharpen your swords,
You fight with spears now not words.

~This is what you get when you ask me to write something โ€˜atmosphere buildingโ€™~

EYES LIKE STARS
Eyes like stars,
Windows without bars,
Eyes like stars,
In a face without mar.

Your eyes, like stars,
I raise with the moon,
Though with your eyes like stars,
Youโ€™ll counter me soon.

Eyes like stars,
Windows to your soul,
Eyes like stars,
Wide as an innocent foals.

~Another splash of cheery, though this time it was willing. That shocked a few people. OK, everyone who knows me. To be fair, I suppose this doesnโ€™t really count either, seeing as I wrote it after reading Eyes Like Stars, which is actually nothing like my poem.~

LOVE IN ACTION
Love in action,
Is more than just a faction,
Of our first reaction.

Loving and kind,
Caring of mind,
Nothing better youโ€™ll find.

Small but there,
Needing nurture and care,
Fight it, you dare?

Small or sprightly,
Tall or might,
Ever there, small or almighty.

~I had no idea what I was being told to write about, but the good thing is my fingers have tendency to write/type things before I get around to thinking them.~

IT DIDNโ€™T SEEM EVIL
It didnโ€™t seem evil,
It didnโ€™t seem bad,
It offered me reprieve,
From memories so sad.

She lured me in,
I regret to say,
She and her King,
Both lured me in.

Dressed in red,
Gilded with gold,
โ€˜We want to help youโ€™,
Is the story they told.

I grasped the hand,
Held out to me,
I thought they were good,
And began to feel free.

But then I was led,
To the dankest of cells,
By the Monarchโ€™s Red,
And through darkness I fell.

~I actually really rather like that one. Of course, all thanks go to my waking dreams.~

SKY ABOVE US SHOOTS TO KILL
Stand by your hills,
Stand and be still,
The above you shoots to kill.

Falling and flying,
Standing and dieing,
All of us are crying.

Shot down,
Falling crown,
Angels demand we kneel and bow.

In the embers the crown is lying,
By the fire, the King is dieing,
Above us, the Angels are flying.

And they shoot to kill.

So stand by your hills,
Stand and be still,
For the sky above us shoots to kill.

~Thank you o Mumford and Sons for writing Thistle and Weeds. You can ell Iโ€™m running out of things to say.~

HERE I CANNOT STAY
I shall travel the road to acceptance,
Thought I do not know the way,
I shall walk the straight and narrow,
For here I cannot stay.

Here I cannot stay,
On your road of murder and theft,
In your palace of decay,
Where there is no honour left.

So tomorrow I will walk,
The straight and narrow path,
Away from the foul men who balk,
In the face of your murderous wrath.

~Technically, this isnโ€™t depressing, heโ€™s leaving, isnโ€™t he? I mean, he might not get where heโ€™s going, but stillโ€ฆ~

I SHALL LEARN IT ALL
I shall study poisons,
And learn their every trick,
And the name of every toxin,
When others dare not risk.

I shall study magic,
That energy everywhere,
I shall learn to cure the sick,
A trade no others dare.

I shall study fire,
And watch itโ€™s leaping flame,
To satisfy a desire,
No mortal man may claim.

~Does it count as plagiarism if you use the titles of someone elseโ€™s books? It probably does. Each chapter (Verse you idiot, verse!) was inspired by the titles of the Study series books by Maria V Snyder. Good books.
