bags were visible under her eyes. She wasn't a pretty site.

"So what happened?" Arieli asked curiously.

I was about to explain when Odius came through the door. Did he remember? Did I actually tell him that information?

"Odius," I said breathlessly. Had I ran a mile since I had last seen him? Was it really stuffy in here? Or was it just me? Maybe I'll pass out again.

"Dite. Ladies can you excuse us?" He asked.

"Yes, your royalness. I mean- um Prince Odius," Arieli said slapping her forehead and heading for the exit. Onit left too.

"Odius-," I started.

"Dite did you mean all the things you said?" He asked interrupting me .

"Yes," I said abruptly. He kissed me again.

"I have one question and one only for you Dite will you become engaged to me? I mean I known we haven't know each other forever but- um i'd really like to um-"

"Yes Odius I will," I said hugging him tightly. I hoped this was a dream and if so I never want to wake up.

I loved Odius and I had told him. And now he wanted to marry me someday. This probably was a dream. And I guess dreams do come true. I walked up to open the door and saw my merfriends in there human forms ears suctioned to the door.

Engaged

"Girls!" I shouted. They giggled as they ran over an acted as though they were talking to Odius' brothers.

"Corti that's so funny," Arieli said as she looked at Corti who looked as if he was trying to impress her with funny faces. Corti hugged her tightly and smiled at her happiness.

I  giggled, holding my hand out to Odius who looked bewildered for obvious reasons. He took my hand. We entered the waiting area hand in hand.

"Ti darling I would love for you to come to my study and paint for me some time?"Adin asked his southern accent.

"I would love to to," She said you could hear the anger in her voice. I giggled. "What's so funny?"

"You said tutu," I answered shocked when I heard Odius' deep rumbling laughter. He pulled me close.

Adin smiled at Onity. And Arieli was locked in Corti's smothering embrace.

"So what really is going on?" Corti asked smiling." I know the girls had there ears glued to the door, trying to listen in but we didn't hear a peep."

Arieli hit Corti on his arm playfully for ratting Onity and her out. Corti winked at her.

"Um, you wanna tell em' or should I?" Odius asked looking at me questioningly.

"I will give you the honor," I said patting his arm and going to sit by Arieli on the couch.

"Well, Dite and I have known each other for awhile now and-" He started.

"Get on with it," Onity snapped eagerly. Arieli and I flinched. Adin gazed down at her. Onity's eyes locked with Adin's and she looked down angered.

"I apologize Odius for my tone was unacceptable and rude," She said her eyes never leaving the floor as she kicked with her foot nervously back and forth. Adin looked pleased. In the little time i'd know Onity i've known she's never been one to apologize. But why now?

"Well, Dite and I would like to wed after a series of dates and establishing a relationship based on trust, family relations and last but not least love," Odius said looking into my eyes.

My eyes watered. I was seriously turning into a honeybun. He went across the room and sat next to me taking my hand.

"Oh darling i'm so happy for you, my brother can be a bit of a brute but otherwise he's pretty cool," Adin warned.

Onity looked at Adin her heart shattering her and Adin had known each other for what several years then he found out he was royalty and he was needed more on the surface. As a mermaid, it was hard to walk on land given the cost of the transformation you had to decide between mermaid or land life. Onity wouldn't leave her mermaid life behind for some boy who wouldn't make a change for her. When Adin had talked to her after we were waiting on Dite and Dius to wake she had thought there was hope for them. Yet he wasn't interested in marrriage to a mermaid though he was in charge of the southern part of the ocean. Onity was upset and she needed to let go now...

"Yeah joy to the world your getting married with no freakin' fins attached," Onity pitched.

"Pardon me?" I asked confused.

"You heard me!" Onity shouted crudely.

"Onity," Adin warned.

"Onity. Onity. Shhh Onity don't worry about that or that. Be happy and everything will be alright darling," Onity said mimicking Adin's words and accent.

Everything was silent. Dread washed over Adin he had said that to keep his kingdom happy. And it had come back to bite him in the-

"There's no sense in hiding it now Adin. You said there was nothing to worry about we'd still see each other. You lied. You lied about me to save your own tail. Well, now that its out there what do you have to say? I watched every beautiful happy normal couple get married have kids someday, and grow old and have grandchildren and you and I wanted- no scratch that I wanted all that. You just wanted to have yet another girl pulled short by your looks and sideways phrases with no questions asked," She shouted angrily." For years i've listened to the snide remarks about you and didn't have the merguts enough to talk to you about what happened. You knew I loved you... you had to knew I cared because man oh man you sure know how to hurt someone deeply."

"You think that I wasn't hurt I couldn't see you everyday and I apologized couldn't be hands and fins at your beck and call," He snapped back.

"You see thats where your wrong prince Adin of Bastardlania you know what you did. And you know what happened. And what you were getting yourself into! You knew what was going down, and what could come afterwards but are you ready to pay the mermaid? And you know its been 4 1/2 months since our last encounter do you notice anything different?"

"No," He said hoping it wasn't what he thought it was.

"Well I do, are you sure? For starters Adin I haven't been able to fit in my land clothing and my mermaid attire especially my skinny jeans and shell bras," She shouted at him angrily. "Are you sure?"

"I-I'm sure," He stuttered nervously. Please Zeus be with me, He thought.

Oh my goodness, she can't be!  I thought. The horror was visible in Adin's eyes.

"Well look at me," She nearly screamed as her tears streaming down her cheeks her normally olive complexion was nearly ghostly. And her belly had protruded a lot since the last time i'd seen her. And she looked bigger her oufit very tight. Too tight. She pulled up her top and I heard Arieli gasp. And Odius ad Corti looked up at Adin in shock.

Adin hung his head.

"Adin, you bastard," I shouted. Arieli raced out of Corti's arms and I heard a big smacking sound. My eyes opened wide and I saw Adin's normal complexion get a rosy hand print on his right cheek.

"Oww. I guess I deserved that," He said rubbing his cheek. Arieli crossed her arms. Corti looked at her in shock.

"No you deserve a whole lot worse you-," She started getting ready to strike again. Corti covered her mouth. And waggled his finger at her telling her 'no'.

"Are you okay?" Corti mouthed. Arieli shook her head. Corti took his hand off her mouth and hugged her. I caught Corti's whisper.

"You know I would never leave you especially by yourself like this, right?" He asked motioning towards Onity and Adin.

"I know," She whispered back kissing his cheek.

Onity looked pale too pale and sick to her stomach. She groaned and her skin turned greenish.

"Are you okay?" I asked rubbing her back and hugging her.

"I don't feel to good," She hiccuped and covered her mouth. "I'm gonna be sick."

Corti ran to a small closet and got a bucket.

Arieli took it from Corti and raced up to me and I held it out so Onity could get it. Onity threw up and wiped her mouth.

"Sorry you guys," She said half smiling.

Adin eyes flickered in Onity's direction he still couldn't believe she was pregnant with his baby. Three very important questions crossed his mind, What would he do now? Would the baby be a fish or human? What would his kingdom think of this?

Adin watched as Onity threw up. He wanted to comfort her, but he couldn't. He wanted to kiss her and tell her everyhing was going to be okay, but he knew he shouldn't and he yearned to be a part of her and the baby's life, but he just wouldn't.

I studied Adin's expression. Emotionless, too blank for a man that just found out he had impregnated a women.

"Come here," I snapped. Onity jumped at my tone. Arieli snuggled up with Corti. Could they get any closer? I heard Onity say inside of my head.

Don't hate, I said back.

Adin walked up to me.

"What are you afraid of?" I asked him, as I saw his body shivering.

"I'm afraid of the baby and what my kingdom will think of me," He said honestly looking down at the ground because he was embarrased by his words.

"But why?"

He shrugged.

"Answer me," I shouted slapping him across his face hard. "Onity take over."

"My pleasure," She said evily. She kneed him in the balls and took advantage over her superiority. She tossed him on the floor.

"I didn't want to have to do this," He said getting his hands in position to use his godly powers.

"I don't think so," She snapped making the air whoosh forming and indoor rain cloud over his head. "Sorry to rain on your parade Adin."

The rain soaked his nice clothing and his hair.

He groaned angrily.

"You little-"

"What Adin? If you can't say in front of your mother then you can not and will not say it to me," She said as head started to throb.

"I'm sorry okay-" He started.

"Sorry isn't...Sorry isn't enough..but I don't know what is.. I can't have a-" She started.

"You can't," He thundered a crack of energy sparked his hand.

She bit her lip back in fright. "I can its my body," She said uneasily.

He fidgeted. You just can't, he said telepathically to Onity. They were connected because of the baby and there hearts.

"Stop. Just stop," She cried. Her eyes
