to bed.” That was true.
“Hey that time wasn’t my fault and you know it.” He laughed a forced laugh. “Anyway Crader is convinced I’m his, but don’t worry Eldon slept in the tent last night.” I saw relief cross Luke’s face.
“Skye be careful I don’t know what I would do if anything were to happen to you.” He pulled me against him and gave me a big hug. Then his lips were against mine. His kiss was fierce and passionate. Almost as soon as the kiss began it ended. “Crader’s coming.” I quickly pulled away.
“I don’t want you to get in any trouble so just keep quiet and go along.” He nodded. Sure enough Crader came around the tent. He was talking to a guard.
“What do you mean she’s…?” He stopped speaking when he saw me. “Skye what are you doing out of the tent?”
“I snuck out I don’t like being copped up.” He smacked me which earned him a snarl from Luke.
“Oh shut it you mutt.” Crader grabbed me by my arm and practically drug me back to his tent. “What were you doing with him?”
“Nothing.”
“Bull I can smell him all over you.”
“Personally I don’t think it’s any of your business.”
“You are my business you are mine I will not have you making out with a mutt.”
“Quit calling him that.” I spat at him.
“Or what?” He was testing me. He wanted to see what I was capable of. I extended my claws and got ready to attack, but I didn’t have the chance. I felt a sharp pain in my lower back. Then I heard it the sound of skin breaking. I looked down and saw that there was a giant silver stake coming out of my stomach. I could feel my shirt soaked with my own blood. I gritted my teeth and fell to my knees the pain was just too much. I reached down and pulled the stake out of my side. I then collapsed face first onto the hard ground. My blood was making a big puddle around my body. My vision was blurry and my breathing short and heavy. I could faintly hear voices. What were they saying?
“Did you have to use such a big stake?” Crader.
“I did what was necessary sir.” Who did the other voice belong to? I used my last ounce of energy to roll myself over.
“Oh well will she live?”
“I have no idea sir.” It sounded so familiar. I opened my eyes and tried to clear my vision. I made out a head of bouncy brown hair. No it can’t be.
“Eldon?” I managed to whisper out. I heard a laugh.
“You got the right little sis sleep well.” Then everything went black.
