Chapter Three: Tick Tock.
It’s been five days since Jake left. Sigh. Sam was making them stay for a whole two weeks. He called me every day but it still made me sad. We just realized our love for one another and we couldn’t even be together. I kept thinking of his soft lips against mine, they felt perfectly right. I remembered the warmth of his hands on the small of my back and on my face. And then I felt cool hands shaking me. “Nessie,” I heard Aunt Rosalie’s beautiful voice. “Nessie, wake up dear, it’s time for school.” Ugh. I couldn’t escape school for long. I sighed and sat up. “Okay Aunt Rosalie. I’m up.” She laughed and said “Don’t worry Nessie, it’s Friday.” “True.” I said. She laughed lightly and said “Breakfast is on the table,” and left. After she closed the door I got up and stretched. After my stretch, I wandered off to the bathroom to take my shower. I got in and let the hot water run over my body. When I got out, I looked in the mirror and looked at myself. Something was so off about me. It had been harder to put my towel around me…hm. My breast must have grown. I let the towel drop and saw that they had grown. They were large A’s last time I checked, they looked a bit bigger, but not huge big. I shrugged and went to put my clothes on and realized my bras didn’t fit anymore! Great! I thought. This was so irritating. I grabbed my towel and ran out of my bedroom door. “Mom” I yelled. She came up the stairs with a bag in her hand. She grinned at me and said “Alice stopped by the store while you were asleep.” I grinned and sighed with relief. “Thanks Aunty Alice! I own you big time!” I yelled and heard her laugh her slivery laugh. “Go get dressed honey,” Mom said. I hugged her and ran into my room to get changed. I put my new purchased black ruffled bra on. It was pretty…well I don’t think the word pretty described it…it looked…sexy? I flushed red. I shook my head as if to shake out the thought and ran into my closet to see what I would wear. Aunt Alice stalked my closet with the latest clothing all the time so it didn’t surprise me when I saw different shirts hanging in the closet. I didn’t like dressing up, it made me feel weird; I only dressed up on special occasions. Aunt Alice said Mom was the same way. I turned to look for a pair of jeans and a regular tee-shirt Jacob brought me; it said werewolves rule. I laughed. Wasn’t it ironic? People made these shirts not realizing that in truth werewolves were a main part of this world, just as vampires were. I laughed again. I grabbed a comb and combed my bronze ringlets until they were soft. I realized then that my hair had grown three inches since Wednesday. I would go to the hair dresser today. I brushed my teeth and once I was done I grabbed my cell phone and book bag and left my room. I walked down the stairs and saw Aunt Alice and Uncle Jasper sitting in the love seat holding hands speaking quietly. “Good morning Aunt Alice and Uncle Jasper.” They both looked at my outfit and laughed. “Where did you get that disgusting shirt from?” Uncle Jasper asked in a joking tone. I laughed and said “Jake gave me it.” He nodded and turned back to Aunt Alice who looked like she was in pain. “What’s wrong Aunt Alice?” I asked anxiously. Uncle Jasper laughed and said “Don’t worry about her, she just wants to change your clothes.” I grinned at her and said “Don’t worry Aunt Alice; you can dress me up when I get home.” She smiled and saw that we were going to the mall later to get my hair cut. She turned back to Uncle Jasper and they continued on with their conversation. I wandered off to the kitchen and saw Mom and Dad sitting at the kitchen table, Mom reading a book and Dad reading the news paper. They both looked up at me. Mom grinned; Dad snorted. I ignored Dads reaction, grabbed the pop tarts and walked to where Mom sat and kissed her on the cheek then Dads. I heard Uncle Emmett say “Nessie, you’re going to be late if you don’t hurry.” “Bye Mom and Dad. See you later. Love you guys,” I yelled as I ran to the garage where Aunt Rosalie and Uncle Emmett sat waiting for me in Auntie Rosalie’s shinny red convertible. I sighed. This was sure to make me look normal. I got in anyways; this was the fastest way to go.
Uncle Emmett started the car and the house quickly disappeared behind us. I ate slowly and thought of my school. This was my last year in High School but I didn’t really get the point of it; I knew everything already. Dad taught me everything as soon as I could write. I knew more than the teachers themselves and yet I had to still endure it. Why couldn’t Grandpa Carlisle just home school me? At least it would be challenging then. Dad said that he and his family were excluded from everyone else in High School; they were freaks. But me, everyone is my friend. I know practically everyone. I guess you could consider me as a “popular” girl. I don’t care about that though. Guys always drool after me and girls always envy me and teachers love me. High School wasn’t bad, it was just boring. I wish I went to school with Jacob, and then we would always be together. I smiled at the thought and sighed. Mom said I couldn’t because it would distract me; and I knew she was right. We arrived at my school; Forks High School. I got out of the car and said brief good-byes to Aunt Rosalie and Uncle Emmett and turned to go to my first class of the day. As I walked I was greeted by one of my favorite friends, Luna. Luna was beautiful. She had the same white skin as my parents did and the same golden eyes. Her face was that of a china doll. Her long dark curly midnight colored hair sat on her shoulders, her almond shaped golden eyes always so trusting with luscious lashes that touched her skin when she looked down, her lips full and balanced, her nose perfectly straight, her cheek bones high and prominent, her long arms and legs so graceful. She was a beauty. Luna always disagreed with me saying that I was born looking the way I did, she was turned, but still I couldn’t deny that she was beautiful, every bit as Mom and Aunt Alice and Aunt Rosalie. Luna met me half way and we kissed each other’s cheek. This was something she did to everyone when she lived in France. She too was a vampire who had followed Grandpa Carlisle’s way of life; preying only on animals. She knew my whole family, she even knew Jake. She didn’t like his smell but she liked him. She smiled at me and whispered “Tell me!” in her strong French ascent. I knew what she was talking about. She wanted to know the details of what I had already told her somewhat of what happened between me and Jake. I nodded and started as we walked side by side being greeted by all our fellow class mates. I heard Phil, an annoying, obnoxious, loud mouth jock, whisper to his best bud Alex “I bet I could get her to go to the homecoming dance with me.” As we passed I laughed out loud. I wouldn’t go out with him even if I wasn’t madly in love. Luna giggled having heard him. I heard both of their heart rates splutter as they heard our voices. I was no Aunt Alice but boys were so predictable. Luna and I had basically every class together except for Advanced Physics. That was the highest I could go. Sigh. We had about a minute left to get to class and I didn’t want to have to rush to class so I turned to Luna and said “I’ll tell you at lunch.” Luna nodded and turned the corner to get to her class. I walked into Physics and went to sit at my seat, conceiving a few hellos’s here and there until Mr. Mason called the class to attention. Sigh. This was going to be a long day, but thankfully I sat in the back next to the window. I stared out the window not bothering to act like I was paying attention; Mr. Mason could never catch me off guard. My mind didn’t want to think about Mr. Mason, it wanted to think of Jacob. I was remembering that whole night and sighed, I did this so often Adam, the boy who sat beside me, did not turn as I had intended but a boy who sat directly across from my table did. He turned his head in my direction and turned back around. Who was this boy? I reviewed all the student’s faces in my head and could not
