The gated community of Solaris witnessed another normal and average day that led to a similar mentioned night. Nothing out of the ordinary occurred as families chatted with each other over topics of barbecues and amusement park trips. The community seemed happy about their mundane days, basking in them.
However, the peaceful night was soon disrupted after five meteors crashed into the Kurupt house. Neighbors quickly rushed to the scene and searched the rubble for survivors. One of the neighbors, Adam Kane, discovered Gary Kurupt’s body before anybody else. Gary faced away from Adam, his back turned on the neighbor.
“Hey, Gary! Lay down while we call an ambulance.” He shouted while reaching out to Gary. Gary didn’t respond, instead, turning around to face Adam. His face was scarred while the rest of his body began to melt off, transforming him into a flesh-covered monster, letting out a roar. Adam’s eyes widened as the transformation was completed in front of him. Gary, now a monster, focused all of his attention on Adam; closing the distance between each other and pummeling him into a puddle of blood and guts before moving to his next victim.
Gary charged his way towards hordes of his neighbors. People attempted to flee and escape through the only gate that led to the outside world but were prevented by Stacy Kurupt and her new monster transformation. She turned into a frail monster with an incredible amount of speed, nearly flying towards the gate. However, unlike the Gary monster, Stacy’s monster form seemed to be tasked with blocking the survivors from escaping. She, also, appeared to be delighted in slaughtering her neighbors and friends; a twisted smile wrapping past her lips. The survivors fled from the scene in every other direction, diving into their homes or neighbor’s houses to escape both monsters.
Tom Kurupt, the ten-year-old son of Gary and Stacy, appeared at the opposite end of the gate, which was the house of Mert Torres; an ex-soldier. Mert had heard the chaos erupt from his living room, peering out to search for the cause. He quickly realized what was happening; five meteors had crashed into the Kerupt household and monsters quickly emerged from the crater.
Armed with this knowledge, he sprinted to his basement where he stashed his collection of guns---a shotgun and a few pistols. He grabbed the shotgun and ran outside, followed by his wife, Edith Torres.
Once outside, they discovered Tom, in an unnatural position, trying to transform into his monster form. However, Mert decided to put an end to Tom before he could transform into a monster like his family.
A single shell to the head killed the young kid without hesitation, sowing the contents in his brain. His wife looked away from the boy’s corpse, silently praying for his safe adventure to Heaven. Mert, on the other hand, wasn’t sharing the same feelings of disgust and sadness. Instead, he focused on making sure the boy was dead, crouching down to feel the boy for any signs of the origin of the monsters.
While Mert was patting Tom’s body, a green slug-like creature emerged from his body and lunged at Edith. Edith, who had her back turned, didn’t notice the arrival of the slug. It quickly ran around her face, entering her nose. She coughed as the slug made his way into her body, tearing her nose apart in the process.
“Honey, what’s happening?” Mert asked. “Are you okay?”
Edith didn’t respond to him, simply, falling to the ground. Her body then began shaking uncontrollably. Her skin was melting apart and decorating in front of him.
“Honey? W-What?” He muttered, watching as his wife’s life faded away; he was forced to look, unable to help her.

Red, a charcoal-haired teenager, was on his phone when the meteors hit the Kerupt house. He watched the streets out of curiosity and took notice of the chaos that ensured. His parents were outside chatting with the neighbors when the meteors hit, leading to them being two of many victims claimed by the Gary monster, however, he didn’t see their bodies be torn apart; only their cries and shouts being silenced.
He had ducked under the window to avoid being seen by the monsters and the sight of his most likely dead parents, but his curiosity got the best of him.
He peeked out of a different room. The different window, which faced Mert’s house, gave him front row seats to Edith’s transformation. He watched as Mert collapsed to his knees, his face drenched in disbelief. His finger wasn’t on the shotgun trigger, instead, moving towards his wife to console her and her pain.
Red froze temporarily before rushing downstairs to save a friend that acted like an uncle to him, often telling him stories about the war. He grabbed his baseball bat, which laid against the backdoor, and his bag that hung itself on the side of the door, before running outside towards Mert. Red swung the bat and landed a hit on Edith, throwing her backward.
“You’ll have to take her out!” He shouted in Mert’s face, pointing the end of the bat at Edith.
“I-I-I c-can’t,” Mert shouted, his eyes tearing up. “She’s my wife.”
“She’s not your wife anymore! She’s a monster that will kill us if she isn’t killed now!” He shouted back, grabbing Mert’s head and forcing him to look at his wife, who was almost a monster. Mert wiped his tears and nodded, raising his shotgun and pointing it at her. His fingers were trembling, resisting his orders. He pressed them against the trigger before placing them in front of the mechanism.
“I’m sorry, honey,” Mert whispered before sending the order to his fingers. They resisted the order, but his body was forced to follow it.
The shotgun shell blasted her head off, leaving a headless corpse behind. The slug creature was then expelled from the body, lunging towards Mert but was stopped by Red’s baseball bat. Red struck the slug before Mert loaded a new shell into the shotgun. However, with the slug now on the ground defenseless, Mert was able to deal with it properly.
“This is for Edith!” He shouted as he pressed the trigger, without resistance, and blew the slug to gory pieces. It disintegrated upon impact.
With the slug creature dead, Mert collapsed to the ground; his eyes brimming with tears. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” He repeated himself, shouting louder and louder.

“Where do we go, Lynn?” A brightly-dressed man asked. “I lost my home to the monsters.”
Lynn, a tall pale brunette, pointed at a two-story building perched on a small hill. The house resembled a small mansion.
“Get everybody you can! We’re going to make that place our headquarters. Let’s call it… the Outpost.”

Chapter Two "I Will Kill"Mert finished crying a few minutes later, staring blankly at his wife’s headless corpse lying on the floor in an unnatural position. Her organs weren’t in the right place, instead, rotting on the grass next to her. Her blood formed a puddle around her body and outside organs, creating a meaty soup.
Red watched as Mert nearly lost his mind from his wife’s death, deciding to grab Mert’s arm and drag him away from the scene, towards Mert’s house. He knew that Mert wouldn’t recover if he were to continue looking at his wife’s body.
A loud screech emerged behind them, motivating a dazed Mert into sprinting towards his house at full speed. The screech had hotwired something in his mind to revoke his feelings; be it fear or sadness.
Red, who wasn’t as quick as Mert, chased after him. Mert, on the other hand, had arrived at his doorstep, entering his house and leaving the front door open for Red. He then glanced over his shoulder, his eyes widening and his jaw nearly collapsing. Red noticed Mert's strange stare, glancing over his shoulder to see a frail but slightly athletic monster following after him. This monster used to be the normal girl Grace Kurupt, the daughter of Gary and Stacy Kurupt.
Fortunately, Red was nearing the door, seeing freedom waiting for him inside of Mert’s house. However, as he neared the door, his childhood friend---Taylor----called out to him for help.
Grace, who was chasing him a second ago, took notice of Taylor and forsaken Red for her. She closed the distance between Taylor and herself, but Taylor wasn’t stuck in a corner. She was able to maneuver around the monster, almost always keeping a fifteen-foot distance from it.
“Help! Red, help me!” She shouted, her voice breaking.
Red, who stopped his momentum, spun on his heels and headed back towards Taylor. Mert, who was watching from the door---quite cowardly---shook his head and called for Red to return. However, he ignored Mert’s orders, running past the monster and Taylor while shouting, “Hey! Come to me!” At the top of his lungs.
The monster was attracted to the shouting, chasing after Red instead of Taylor.
“Run! Get to Mert’s house, but keep the door open!” Red shouted as his stamina was getting the best of him; his energy was slowly being drained.
The monster charged towards Red, lunging at him. Red ducked the attack, falling to the ground. However, he quickly recovered, doubling back towards Mert’s house. The monster’s momentum pushed it farther away from Red, giving him enough distance to make it to Mert’s house and slam the door behind him.
Now out of danger, the three took in a deep breath, exhaling their worries out; then collecting their thoughts. They may have survived their encounter with a monster, but many others weren’t as fortunate; an example being Edith.
Mert, who suffered a loss a few minutes ago, was the first to jump to his feet. He led the teens to his basement, showing off his arsenal. A collection of a shotgun, three handguns, and a few melee weapons, were the only items inside the arsenal. Unfortunately, the mayor and council of Solaris decided against his arsenal in fear of the weapons finding themselves in young or mentally ill hands. However, Mert fought their orders, using his veteran status to guilt-trip them, until they gave in. He was able to have weapons in his house, but there were many restrictions in place; one of them being that he couldn’t have an assault rifle or any high-caliber guns on his property.
Even so, he was proud of his collection, showing it off to Red and Taylor before handing the weapons out. They were both given a pistol, but Red refused the combat knives. Instead, he relied on his baseball bat as a melee weapon.
Now armed, they returned to the living room to discuss their plans. They wanted to transform Mert’s one-story house into a sturdy fortress; Mert and Red began barricading the doors and windows while Taylor sat in the attic, attached to the house through a spiral staircase. The attic was small, but enough to fit five people at a time.
The only light in the attic was a medium-sized window facing the main street of Solaris. Through the window, Taylor watched with horrified eyes as people were devastated by the monsters. Those that weren’t quick enough, were
