about him?โ
Gwen giggled, and put her arm around my shoulder in a half hug. โSoooooo,โ she mused slowly next to my ear. โWhat if we were the ones doing the take down?โ
So many mental images flashed through my mind of Alex getting what heโs got coming to him. I shook my head. โNo,โ I sighed against my will, my better judgement, and my pride. โThink of the trouble weโd get in if we did something to the prized โTeachers Pet.โโ
โWell if heโs on Ms Pinckarโs bad side he canโt be all that prized, now, can he.โ Gwen replied matter-of-factly. I saw her logic but couldnโt help thinking it was the teensiest bit flawed. Sure, Alex and Ms Pinckar were having a โtiffโ right now, but I bet, if not tomorrow, then sometime over the next week, everything will be just as it never happened. Of course though, I didnโt tell Gwen this.
A car horn interrupted my thoughts. My mum was waiting for us in our new silver Statesman on the curb. โHurry up.โ She shouted from the window.
Gwen and I hurried to the car and got in as fast as we could before my mum could get any more irritated and avoiding my little sisterโs poked out tongue and snarky comments about me always being slow. When we were finally out of the school grounds, and halfway down the road and Gwen was happily humming along to a song on the radio, I took the time to rethink what Gwen had said moments before. And smiled.
The longer I thought about it, the more my conscience and better judgement ebbed away. He did have it coming to him. And who knows, maybe we could even get some of the other students to pitch in to help โ well, that and to alleviate a little of the blame off Gwen and myself if we are to be caught. Plus, thereโs no harm in a little playful retaliation, is there?
What can I say? Gwen really did have a plan for everything. That and she really knew how to make me feel better.
I turned to Gwen and tapped her shoulder.
โIโm in.โ I whispered with a wink. โWhat do we need to do?โ
